Thread regarding UnitedHealth Group Inc. layoffs

Why are some of you so eager to get laid off?

Seriously, what is wrong with you? Do you not realize what the job market looks like right now? I've been trying to find something for almost a year, and let me tell you, it su-ks. You do not want to be unemployed in this environment. The only people who should be hoping for a layoff are the ones who already have something lined up.

I am just wondering what the RTO process is? I took the Vrsp offer but i still read the posts because i worry about my friends that didn’t take the offer and still work for the company. I definitely don’t regret taking the vrsp plan because i am way less stressed out than i was. Good luck everyone

Plain and simply I wouldn’t owe tuition back and some of us don’t blow all of our money on d-mb stuff. I could take the severance and relax for a few weeks before looking. I don’t need a job for like 3 years with what I’ve saved

I’d love to be laid off so I don’t have to pay back tuition reimbursement. I applied to positions internally and did probably close to 100 interviews never got a job offer just a whole bunch of gaslighting and runaround… at this point I think I’ll be laid off or forced to resign through the RTO mandates….

The Supreme Court just allowed Trump to pursue federal layoffs. This will be even more people out of work competing for jobs. 😒

Beware of the scam recruiters as well. I don't trust any recruiter that reaches out to me unless I know I applied for that company.

The job market is brutal right now. I am living it! Please don't quit your job until you have a new one lined up (official written offer in hand)!

Fake it till you make it, get your resume updated, get your LinkedIn profile freshened up. You can make your LinkedIn profile "open to recruiters" only so that your current leadership does not know you are looking. Good luck!

@aj Wow what an a%s. After over 25 yrs with UHC and nominated twice for service hero and winning once, a college degree and yes plenty of skill I have still found myself laid off and it is NOT easy is this market and you will realize it when you get out there. Don't judge and call people you don't even know mediocre.

For those of us with actual marketable skills we don't luck into jobs, the job market means nothing to us when we're top 90th percentile at all times and get recognized. Layoffs just mean free severance or unemployment money. Being mediocre is stressful and your inability to understand why some of us wouldn't be worried shows exactly why you are. And nothing wrong with that. We can't all be the best.

@OP wishing you all the best. Been in your shoes a few times in my career & it is extremely stressful. One occurrence, I was out of work in my field for 12+ months during a downturn.

As you mentioned, only those with something already lined up should wish to be laid off. I finally have something lined up, so I am ready to exit.

Make an exit plan, before being forced out.
