Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Non-exhausting jobs at Wells?

Are there any groups or positions at wells that don’t work you to the ground? Been here 13 years, in internal audit and now IRM. Every job I’ve held had very brief downtime periods, but for the most part has required extreme hours to get everything done. I really dream of a steady consistent position where I don’t have to get up at 4am or work till 11 to get stuff done. I am an exec director level (sr lead officer, individual contributor).

Despite all the internal marketing, this place is a nonstop grind. The punishment for doing a good job is more work getting dumped on you when they cut other groups. There's no getting away from it.

Guess I’m lucky. Executive Director and do about 20 hours of actual work on an average week. Boss is smart and chill, LOB is very friendly.

Is it not a rhetorical question?

I guess, if anything, try to get I to a client facing LOB. It ebbs and flows. It can be crazy at times, but here might be a lull every now and then. The better part is that you actually feel like you're contributing to the bottom line. Audit and IRM are just an expense to the enterprise.

No, the 20 different managers with their competing interests that you'll have to react to at any given time will drive you toward an early grave. This place is so top heavy.

@ah
Well, I started as a low level auditor, and it’s been like this since day one. So obviously moving down a few levels and taking a pay cut will not be a solution.

P5, 149k, 10% bonus. 13-hour days to keep the head above water. Weekends, vacations, holidays: almost always working to keep things moving forward and fight any fires. I appreciated being able to feed my family. When finally laid off, it felt like I had two working days left till utter physical collapse. Nice job if you can get it. Your call.

You are at a p5 level (probably making over 200k tc) and vastly overpaid compared to the market value for this type of role. Move down a level (or 2) or change companies if you want take it easy.
