Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Please, please stop complaining about RTO!!!!!!

Yep, commuting is a major pain. But... Location is part of the job. Management decides based collaboration, and customers.... Also, some roles will always stay hybrid. All other will alwasy be 5 days in the office. THere is no discrimination here, it is role based.

If your team can justify hybrid just talk to yourmanager and dont complain on an anon board. I suggest each of us follows the rule or finds a better fit somewhere where WFH or Hybrid is embraced.

Complaining here helps no one and it just builds negative sentiment.

@bb in office hours are irrelevant. If you can’t complete your job duties while working from home then you are the problem.

@b0 nobody is WFH anymore, so what you’re seeing is an RTO related loss of productivity. The “we don’t care” goes both ways

@av maybe so, but not here! This company is 567/600 and 875/900 in culture and best employers... Plus 5x RTO= not appealing to anyone, even the jobless. If you were right we would have no trouble hiring the under 40 crowd, but you’re wrong, again!

I will NEVER stop complaining until it changes. So get used to it. Just because there are rules doesn’t mean I have to like them. Su-k off, goofy!

"Complaining here helps no one and it just builds negative sentiment."

No, the words on this platform do not build negative sentiment. The action taken by the corporation builds negative sentiment. Our expression of discontent is merely a symptom of the illness.
Also, feel free to scroll by comments you deem negative if you cannot handle the truth.

A lot of WFH folks ruined it for us during and after covid. Some enjoyed being at home and paid for a new inground pool and joined tennis and golf clubs. Pulled kids out of daycare and thought it would last forever and now think they are above in-office hours and forgot what is important.

@OP Most here were WFH prior to the ChinaFlu. Now we are RTO and this really su-ks b/c the work we do for this company can be done anywhere. There is no benefit rolling into an office daily. I have been a high performer 9/10 past years. All the RTO does for myself and team is hurt our environment, higher personal and professional costs, and still we take our meetings VIRTUALLY. It’s a joke and when I explain to family and friends who have no stake in the game, they all agree it’s ludicrous. I’ll comply and roll into their office daily. Drink their coffee and utilize their AC happily. Toilet paper has been a little bit better recently.

Exactly! These cry babies need to leave so others who don't care if they have to drive 80-100 miles one way to work in the office.
People are desperate to work anywhere to have money for themselves and family. But this bunch here feels soooo entitled that they can't see how fortunate they are to have a paycheck. Selfish fools!
I hope you all get surplused so you can feel how good you had it!

Stop fighting RTO, WFH worriers. A losing battle. People are out of work and will line up to work again from any office and take your empty seat

@OP
How about you STFU! I have been hybrid for over 20 years. The cost & stress of RTO 5x8 is not sustainable & not necessary. It is complete bullsh-t!

I am gonna complain until I get a severance.

@ae You would go #2 in your drawers if you saw what we spent on these leased office locations that are 100% unnecessary in today's market. You could give every employee a $10,000 stipend to build out their home office and still save money in the first year. Maintaining office space is a costly competitive disadvantage which unfortunately will take several years to become evident in the stock performance. By then the current "leadership" will be long gone and the stockholders will be left holding the bag.

I used to work in a 12 story building that was maybe 1/3 full, (moved twice and both buildings sold). Company actually put an easel in the lobby showing actual monthly cost of being it that building monthly and it was over $70K! Now mind you 99% of those people could have worked remote. Instead of bi$ching about saving money they could do something about it back then.

When you were hired you had a desk with your name on it because you belonged here.

Now not so much.

“ Management decides based collaboration, and customers..”
That is incorrect. They did a one size fits all and it doesn’t make any sense. Some teams were hybrid or fully remote for decades since they didn’t need to meet face to face or were not customer facing. Thats the biggest complaint, it just doesn’t make sense whether I’m in Atlanta or Dallas is wouldn’t make sense. They just talked about cutting costs out of the business, one thing that would cut a ton of cost is end this RTO bs. Most people don’t need to be in an office to do their jobs.

Please please stop complaining about people complaining about RTO. They want to cut costs, cut real estate costs by ending this stupidity. They would rather get rid of people than admit this is pointless

@OP

Is RTO going away? Is AT&T actively working to improve the employee experience?

Until both of those are a resounding "yes", take your request, shine it up real nice, turn it sideways, and stick it straight up your candy a-s!
