@ag
Spot on. I’ve seen several folks quietly land new roles in Dallas or Alpharetta before their move date and avoid being on the surplus radar. Unfortunately, those who follow the job often find the target follows them too.

For those trying to make sense of timing a move or exit, especially with severance or retirement in play, this article breaks down how interest rates impact the AT&T pension lump sum. The difference can be huge depending on when you leave:

Worth a read if you're weighing your options.

Don't hit your brakes too hard leaving the office when I get my package. You see, I'll be in a hurry to leave.
I'd hate to rear end your new car that you are financially over extended on.

Funny that so many of us techs WANT to be laid off and we have fun at work laughing about it.

It won’t be SSIM. Not this time, or the next time, or the time after that, or the time after that, ….

@ae If you were TARGETED to move to a hub city , get your rear in workday and start applying for anything and EVERYTHING under new leadership. Better yet look for something outside this sinking ship. Be good to yourself, its NOT worth the stress and culture that is being cultivated. If your manager is telling you to update your resume, the writing is on the wall.

“Wait -- Dallas getting hit with force reductions? There is no way people who were told to move to Dallas or the other hubs would be severed after they moved, right?”

The way you beat them at their own game is find a ‘new job’ in Dallas or Alpharetta instead of telling them that you will follow the job to the new location. I know of 3 people that did this successfully and are still gainfully employed. When you follow the job, the target follows you. As soon as you are told that your job is moving, say yes and start applying. D-mb leadership is like a sniffing bloodhound that loses your tracks when you cross the river.

"the next wave in hub cities will be in mid July . That will filter down to directors in the next two weeks."

The meeting we were just in it was communicated that the next wave in hub cities will be in mid July . That will filter down to directors in the next two weeks. It sounds like Dallas might get hit hard. Atlanta last round, Dallas next round.
