Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Future of Offices

With the announcement this AM. What does that mean for hub/ other offices not NJ/NY/TX?

Will home-based get pushed to decide on moving to one of those offices or walk?

Confirmed today in a TPD all hands. Labs to Burlington, MA, others to the old Bowdoin St building. Outside of TPD, expect many to be assigned remote. Told you......

@at oh they’re not paying people to move. I haven’t seen a relocation package offered for anything less than director.

“but judging by the amount of Slacks this morning and angry posts there is certainly an appetite for fighting back...“

They
Don’t
Care

The goal is to make you leave. You’ll just be doing them a favor and make the target on your back much bigger.

Eventually all the other offices will close doors. We will start at 3 days in 2026. Most people will resist or refuse to comply, Hans won’t meet headcount reduction goals, and by 2027 we’ll be at 5 days RTO. This is all about forcing you to quit.

Tulsa is an owned facility, but barely utilized. There is a large fiber presence in the area and even space to expand. Why force employees to move to insanely high cost of living parts of the country, to properties being leased in crowded metropolitan areas. None of it makes sense on its face, but there are deeper financial and political reasons at play. Its a very sad end to what was once a great place to work.

I heard that Tulsa was an owned building, paid for, and they had the ability to sub lease to actually make money. That was why previous CFO chose it as a finance hub. Amazing short sighted of the company to pay to move people to hubs, then 5 years later say the hub isn’t important. Dear god how can the leaders of a company be so out of touch and shortsighted. I’ve lost all hope in Verizon.

They are trying to get people to quit. Not one comment on if they will be tracking and reporting to leaders though

It appears that the hub locations will remain as is, but that all new hires and job postings will be located in the 3 campuses.

So how do we coordinate a management level walk out? Unions obviously have their ability to organize.. but judging by the amount of Slacks this morning and angry posts there is certainly an appetite for fighting back...

It’s interesting, a high cost center like NY, but not lower cost offices like the COE in Lake Mary
