They have to pay the taxes for BOTH, offshoring AND near-shoring, they can't make it a country-based measure, because corporations are and will continue to go from one country to the other. Plus, it has to be an equalizer. Meaning, "oh, so you want to hire a bunch of people in X, and pay 10 bucks, here it would cost 15, so pay 5, if you still want to hire them, they have to be real geniuses, not for cheap like you do now).

Here's another thing, some (Microsoft) have been building AI labs in South America, sorry to say, but seriously? Google is doing a mega data center down there too. (a couple example of many already taking place)

@a4 going to be a lot of new weeks of vacation and other days to pay out in the first qtr if this is true along with severance. When it happened in my group last year boss said they wanted people off payroll before end of year. I don’t think they are done for the year yet!

Companies will continue to outsource because they get huge tax breaks. It’s all on the tax code. This won’t make a difference

The push for offshoring and near-shoring is to put a stronger push toward the External Revenue Service plan where a meaningful dollar amount will be placed on a per head bases to cover the lost tax revenue that these companies are causing. As of right now there is no current stop gap or breaking mechanism for these companies to move the cheese to regions of cheap script readers. And before you say AI is going to replace these script readers, truth is it hasn't and I see no push to shift these Indian resource jobs to AI. AI is just a buzz word being thrown around as cannon fodder at this point. How many people in India have lost their job to AI when it comes to this company.. I'll give you a hint, ZERO. That is why they are making the center of excellent cheap labor BIGGER not smaller.

What is the bottom line and main point if you don't mind me asking?

Also, the offshoring and near-shoring doesn't seem to stop, for T or other, what's the latest @ the Hilll if you don't mind me asking again?

So here is the deal. This is NOT a win. I have been on the hill lobbying and stalking every single one of my elected leaders social media on this MASSIVE H1B abuse. This has NOTHING to do with highly skilled work force replacements or as StainKey would say "performance driven". This was 100% about replacing older skilled workers with cheap H1B workers from mostly India. Here at T we all know that they will re accelerate layoffs at the start of the year. Our leadership in the Torretta org out right told us that there was little to no cost savings in laying people off this time of year. The people who were let go were all RTO people who had returned to a hub location. All the people who were WFH and were not forced to move to a hub got to kick back. Do not let the media convince you that you can coast . Get in your elected leaders social media threads and keep exposing this H1B issue as we go through a period of mass unemployment. I have stated many times that by the end of Q1 2026 the unemployment numbers will be massive. MAKE SURE that if you were one of the ones that were targeted, as soon as your severance runs out to FILE for your earned unemployment so that it is logged against T's unemployment insurance. Do not lay down on this. They backed you into a corner with your earned severance by attaching stipulations, so you really need to file. These layoffs will continue after the new year is what we are being told.

The damage is already done. No victory here. They got what they wanted, and these are not even an American company any more. They got their quota of disposable transitory two year labor.
