Thread regarding Bank of New York Mellon Corp. layoffs

RTO 4 days sept

So I work in Everett and we are being told 4 days a week will occur for some time now it's fine I get it. I am on a specific client so I am in a certain secluded area, what I do not get is there is now being asked to return on specific days per person. I wasn't in office when asked due to vacation so my slotted days are just being demanded upon me. There is not enough desks where I am now for what we have in terms of my team at 3 days a week and Managers at 4, How are we going to cram Boston people here too. My manager claims they are getting a new section for us or an additional section with seats but like anything here it was false promises. This place is so terribly ran Site wise I am amazed the little ground hog that runs around here has a job still.

No. You are making cr-p up in a lame attempt to be relevant.
You are a malicious mor-on who simply can’t read and comprehend word meaning. Not my problem that your mom ate lead paint chips before squirting out your deformed pathetic behind. Go find a tall cliff and fly.

@b3 no jacka$$. The OP is using the idea that there might not be space available to justify not being in 4 days a week. The space isn’t the OP’s issue, it is the site manager’s issue. Just shut up and do your job when and where you are told to, or just leave.

@e4 Boston folks temporarily working in Everett while remodeling occurs downtown. Everett will be closed by the end of 2026.

@3e Makes sense. Our Unemployment pays out the most and they are forced to pay out unused vaca.

@e3 I'm confused as to why OP said boston people are going into the Everett office

@e2
It is. BNY is also looking to end its presence in Taxachussets within 2-3 years too.

@a4 some locations are in different buildings than they were precovid.

Not enough desks in many offices. I wont be working all day off a laptop in breakout area. I'll head home.
Will they back down if enough people leave?

@aw+1k31tyhgq 2 years pre-covid my team was able to WFH up to two days a week. We were told it’s part of the perk of the new global work environment since we no longer had staff to manage onsite as those positions were offshored. Guess they lied or forgot.

@ax not going to insult you but do you actually work there? The going back to office thing minor as long as you live near one. The people who were promised that wasn’t an issue now need to deal with it. The major problems are forced takings of high performing teams, fake performance reviews, incentive cut both bonus and raise based on said fake performances reviews, and to the other poster hoping to be let go with severance, you won’t get one. They are betting you won’t challenge it. As first hand advice, you can successfully challenge it

Playing musical chairs with available desks and creating a situation where there are always less seats available than people is how the game is played. It adds to your daily stress and makes you give up your paycheck and quit which saves the Bank from severance and unemployment payouts. This then gets translated into a bigger bonus for the genius who enforced the in office rules and created the musical chairs environment… For every miserable new rule they create someone is rewarded and it has nothing to do with culture or productivity or mentoring the next generation it is just about their money. So take action to protect yourself and use every paycheck to add to your exit strategy fund.

No pe-e hole. That’s not what the OP is questioning. If you passed the second grade which is doubtful, you would see the question is about space occupancy and how the crowding will be hard to manage.
I certainly hope you no longer work at BNY.
It’s bad enough of a climate. But violent mor-ons like you are impossibly sickening.
Go soak your stu- pid head

Wow, the original poster is questioning why he/she is being told when to come to work? Why? BECAUSE IT IS YOUR JOB. WE PAY YOU. If you don’t want to come in those days don’t. Then you can just be fired. How G#d damned entitled are you people?????

@aq im very much aware genius cause my location experienced it. And it doesnt matter what you or anyone else likes or wants. They want 5 days back in like pre-covid time and if you dont comply you’re gone

In Berlin we have been in the office since 2023 working 5 days. But we do get days at home with snow.

There are rumors Everett is closing in the spring. I would t be surprised. They are very slow fixing things, if even fixed at all.

@a4 Ummmmmm are you paying attention to the office closings and relocations into centralized buildings and consolidation of space being used by the bank? The pre covid comparison isn’t relevant.

In Manchester, UK we have been told of plans to introduce a desk booking system from September.

Not as many people coming from Boston as they initially expected. There are tons of empty desks on the floor and hotel seats. Just choose another area. No one will kick you out.

@OP all the sites are going to experience the same thing. If people had room for 5 days in office pre-covid, then mgmt isnt going to listen to excuses at 3 and 4 days
