Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Stankey’s daughter in HR?

While AT&T is cutting hardworking employees, John Stankey’s daughter, Meaghan Stankey, reportedly holds a senior HR role at the company.

That is a serious optics problem.

HR is supposed to stand for fairness, trust, and accountability. But when the CEO’s own daughter has a high-level HR position during layoffs, it raises obvious questions about nepotism, favoritism, and whether the same rules apply to executives that apply to everyone else.

Even if the company claims every box was checked, the appearance alone is damaging. Regular employees are losing jobs while executive family members appear protected.

AT&T leadership owes employees transparency.

If this sort of cr@p (and far far worse) is ok for the family in the White House then why not at AT&T.

Be consistent my fellow peasants.

By the way —

A guy that blasts an email to all of his management telling them that loyalty is dead and they should look for employment elsewhere, a guy that says out loud that there are too many older people in his workforce, a guy that pleads with his managers to participate in an expensive 3rd party culture survey, promising to share the results with everyone so that together the culture can be improved, and then instead buries the results of said survey because they reflect so negatively on his leadership….

That guy doesn’t give 2 shites about “optics”.

For years Att has been riddled with nepotism and favoritism. HR is there to protect the company not help employees.

HR is there to protect the company! Don't ever trust HR... if you're Union, as flawed as they are, reach out to them for help. If you're management and you have allot to loose, get an attorney to represent you. The name of the department says it all, you are a RESOURCE to be discarded when you're no longer profitable.
