Thread regarding Bank of New York Mellon Corp. layoffs

Wfh employees

All full time remote employees are being terminated by EOY by sc-mbags who put every one of us in a wfh status while keeping offices closed and sitting empty. We have been treated like we aren't employees here, segregated from everything and everyone, blocked from getting promotions and given false ratings on reviews which includes those not full time as well sc--wing all of us out of merit and jobs as well. Theres no way this is legal cause it goes beyond being “at will”. You dont have to go to these extremes in that case

i truly believe the company is trying to shutter as much as possible and make an end run at juicing profits/stock price.. add a few more tons of stock buy backs to boost the price even more, and negotiate a buy out with a major competitor.

executives are stripping it for parts and prepping it to jump ship, they'll make a fortune all at once, instead of slowly selling their stock compensation packages. Good riddance.

@af+1kf9m8kx0 Whether we are in the office or not doesn’t matter. The work has already moved. We know this. It’s about the company being ethical. If you’re Mr 42, I’ve been telling you this for years that all my all my staff 1, 2, sups within my dept were let go and sent to Pune years ago. About 80 positions lost. Yet you refuse to admit any layoffs happened. All those staff positions were given proper severance. Now they are trying to find loopholes to not give severance to the fractional amount of people left that are still overseeing and training offshore 10 years later. It’s a kick in the butt. BNY needs to do the needful. The proof is in the fact that we were allowed to be remote 2 days a week several years before Covid. Now all of a sudden it’s an issue?!!! We have to approve offshore’s work since we are oversight. Nothing would get done if we weren’t working. Also, last I talked to my offshore team about WFH, they were all WFH 3 or 4 days a week and that’s being generous. And at the same time bragging to me an out how plush their office is. And they get a car ride to the train for men, home for the women, or both home if it’s after a certain time. I don’t know why you are bashing us, when a lot more if us are expected to be in the office a lot more days.

I honestly cant wait until they crash and burn once they do this. All the knowledge will be gone and you are not getting anything left behind i worked to create. Figure it all out yourself. Good luck with that cause have the people here cant walk without a manual telling what to do step by step. Im looking forward to seeing all the posts about it

@f7 exactly and many closed are low cost locations compared to NYC, PA and other places so it absolutely makes zero sense. And all these growth locations have proven is that the quality of staff coming out of them is awful. Probably the worst we have ever seen and you’re paying them far more to not show up, not want to work and have zero knowledge even a year into the role.

@d5,
Companies don't determine if you get unemployment. They can dispute it when you file for it, but it's not the company's decision.

Please explain the cost savings of closing an office and letting it sit empty, laying off people who know the job and replacing them with higher paid employees ( i’ve personally seen the wages) in offices currently undergoing renovations….. the math ain’t mathing

@d5 how do they consider it voluntary when they put alot of people in this forced status? I would go to my office thats sitting empty vs. lose my job. We didnt choose to be home full time. It really is bullsh-t what this place has become

WHEN THEY TERM YOU :

Get a live person from unemployment to discuss. If in PA they know the BNY sht heads are denying unemployment - saying you “ resigned voluntarily “. PA unemployment has attorneys that will discuss on recorded line are over turn their sht desion. Low life sc-m BNY.

@av I was talking to my manager in April and mentioned someday moving to
Florida to retire. He froze and said if I would go this year, he would make
It happen. It was then I realized I was in the lay off list. Sure enough, I was let go. So glad I didn’t take the bait.

@av yep and its going to be more. They arent looking at Lake Mary as a “growth” location anymore citing talentless. And either PA is now being questioned. They want it all in texas where GS offices are even though we arent GS. People are literally about to uproot themselves for a company that doesnt give a sh-t about you and are looking for any reason to terminate people

I know of 2 people that left CNY and moved to Lake Mary and then, let go. 😔

If you are not customer facing you are especially vulnerable to being surplused because your jobs are already moving to Pune and Manila. Kindly get back to the office so you can contribute to the team

BNY is not a real financial firm. It's not even a real company.

@a2+1kf9m8kx0 Do you currently work at BNY? Sounds like you have no idea what’s going on or you are sheltered. What BNY needs to do is start passing out severance packages if people are working in areas where non growth centers have closed instead of being unethical and trying to find ways to terminate and get people to quit to save a buck. Also, this is not 100 years ago. You sound like a dinosaur. They used to make us stay at hotels on snow nights. Now there’s no need. They should be grateful. I miss going out to a nice restaurant on snow days on the company’s dime.
