Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

I Am One of the 13,000: What I Learned the Day Verizon Let Me Go

Today, after 11 years with Verizon, I learned that my position—R2B Wisconsin—was eliminated as part of the 13,000 roles impacted across the company.

It’s a strange thing to watch a decade of your life shift in a single morning. But even in the heaviness, I’m choosing to pause and honor what these 11 years gave me.

This company helped me build a beautiful life—
• A wedding I’ll remember forever
• Vacations and milestones
• Friendships that became family
• Customers who became familiar faces and part of my weekly rhythm
• Promotions that stretched me into someone stronger, more capable, and more resilient

I am grateful. Truly.

To Anyone Reading This—Especially If You Don’t Know Jesus Yet

I can’t talk about loss without talking about the One who is holding me steady right now.

If you don’t know Jesus, this is your invitation to begin. You don’t need a church service or a perfect life. You just need a moment. Open a Bible, or download one from the App Store. Start with the Psalms, start with John… just start.

Because He is near the brokenhearted.

“The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.” — Psalm 34:18

He wants you to lean on Him in seasons of uncertainty. He isn’t distant from our suffering—He steps into it with us. If you already have a relationship with Him, hold on even tighter. Anchor yourself. Let Him carry the questions and the fear.

To My Verizon Family—Past and Present

I love you all, and I’m praying for every single person impacted today. This is a collective grief, a shared moment none of us expected. But I believe God will guide each of us into our next chapter with purpose and provision.

We are not without hope.
We are not without direction.
And we are certainly not walking this alone.

I just ran this post through an AI detector and it said it's 100% written by AI. Nice try, Verizon.

@aj Nope. It might not be useful for you but it is extremely helpful and encouraging to those of us it resonates with. Be an adult and scroll along. Not everything is about you.

@OP Well said, religious or not for those commenting inappropriately…. It’s about controlling your controllables. Finding ways to remain positive through difficult situations and knowing we are all going through this together. Kindness breeds positivity. This is the time for people to lean on people. We are here for each other. Thanks for sharing this. Well said.

@a3 it's called leaning on their faith and encouraging others. If it doesn't resonate with you, scroll past it. Doesn't require your commentary.

@OP I'm so sorry you are one of the casualties here but encouraged that you are giving God the glory and keeping perspective here. He is our provider, strength and comfort in all things. God bless you and your family.

Despite the criticism you’re receiving, thank you for sharing this. I’m sure that there’s some people who needed to read it.

When bad things happen to you that are out of your control, it’s helpful to remember that there is a higher force out there who is orchestrating things … even if you can’t understand it at the time, everything will work out OK in the bigger picture.

You have a great attitude, even though you’ve just been laid off

@a3 I’m not a religious person myself, but understand that religion helps certain people cope.

And people turn this into a religious propaganda.
