Does the voluntary severance program genuinely aim to reduce the number of involuntary layoffs, or is leadership planning to cut 2,000 positions regardless of how many people opt in?

FTVlive guy reporting Nielsen ratings says Network viewership is down 51% year to year, Comcast being hit hardest.
@at spamming ? Spamming? Seriously? You need a reality check. The info is quite detailed. Why don't you start asking questions or do some research first before you start spreading misinformation ? Sounds like a retaliatory union response to me
I hope enough people do it that I keep my job.
Is people commenting here about signing and Union are real employees? Sounds like just spamming
If you are signing something that says " you union has agreed" and you don't know anything previously or had any union meetings that spoke about agreeing or you were not involved in VOTING to agree on anything - you have been flim-flammed by your union - this is a backroom deal. Take all the time you need to read any paper they give you, don't let them rush you or intimidate you
@a6 don't sign anything if it has the words "I agree" or "this agreement" or "your union has agreed" etc.
Start googling terms you are unfamiliar with. You can buy cheap voice recorders for $40 - $60 bucks , I suggest you record any conversations with management & union reps, staff meetings etc. It's legal in NY, Google the law for other cities - your future is at stake & jobs are scarce.
So we shouldn't sign the opt-in form, even if we're opt-ing out?
@a3 that is supposed to be: they cannot force you or try to convince you to sign papers. Also your employee reps never seem to be around when you get whacked. Union members have the right to DEMAND the union rep/s be there - but they are so corrupt - youre probably better off without them there - trying to convince you to sign. Also, if it's financially possible - don't cash the severance check until you challenge or get a lawyer to challenge the layoff
From experience - they dangle the thought of buyouts to save people from getting laid off BUT what actually happens is nobody takes the buyouts until after the layoffs ( basically throwing other generally YOUNGER employees under the bus) in backroom deals (with unions like IBEW especially. Then the older employees take the "buyouts" ( they agree to also get laid off) in order to also collect unemployment (AFTER the window for the first wave of employees expires for them to try to get their jobs back for breach of contract). The buyouts/layoffs are the same thing - THEY ARE CONTRACTS. When you sign the paper to get your severance check - that is a NON Disclosure Agreement you are signing that waives any & all lawsuits & legal matters against the company. YOU DO NOT HAVE TO SIGN THE PAPERS, they can force you to or convince you to - you'll still get the severance PKG they promised. If you sign - you cannot try to get your job back even if you have audio/video & written evidence of the backroom deals. Anybody ( especially scoundrel union reps) who tells you that you have to sign is a liar. Employee groups are full of Riff Raff leaders
