Only 20-day advance notice for Callifornia?!?

Are there many "remote" Oracle workers living in California who were laid off this month who only received 20-days advanced notice? Any chance you haven't signed the severance agreement?

In Washington, the WARN act covers 60 days, which is what I got. it as a nice benefit as it gave me time to have some medical procedures done, complete my estate planning through ARAG legal benefit, spend my FSA medical savings, stock up on my perscriptions, and complete a bunch of dental work. It also extended my 'employment' long enough to vest one of my RSU payouts. I'm still waiting on severance, which I expect will be around the end of October once I officially leave payroll (?). Next step is to navigate my state's unemployment system which should be fun with all of the federal employees during shutdown this week.

I am surprised very few of the laid off folks seemed to be based on offices subject to WARN. Guess if just reflects that most folks went remote/flex after the pandemic. In any case, having two months with paid benefits to plan the next move is a nice silver lining (even though at the end the net severance payment end up being the same all things being equal.)

@a2 This only applies to office-based employees located in a county in which a WARN was filed. Remote workers aren't covered by WARN.

I have not. The $$$$$$ looking as severance was not right. I requested my vacation balance, plus formula used to get to the value be documented. Then I will fight back

California Warn Act requires 60 days advance notice ... Not 20 days.
