I have heard so many conflicting things. Is it 8 hours in office as a salary employee or 8.5 hours? Are we taking a lunch in the office???

currently time is calculated from first badge-in to last badge-out in the day however two issues came up. In Omaha people were badging in then leaving and coming back at the end of day to badge out and in Berkeley people were pulling up to the doors to badge in and then going to park their car for several hours before returning to the office. this was noticed and starting May 1 reporting will only count time between each badge-in and badge-out.
They don't give a flying fu-k about family life work balance
I guess a bunch of people here missed the internal email from HR about how we are all expected in office m-f beginning the week of March 10.

I don't think people understand why we are upset. I have worked for 20+ years in the workforce. I get my job done and I do it well. I work hard and our group is responsible for making the company a TON of money. To be told that I don't have ANY flexibility on my schedule as a high contributor is frustrating. I don't mind working the hours...but being told I have to do it AND do it in the office is frustrating. I like to pick my kids up from school on Fridays. That won't happen now. That time away from my kids is extremely frustrating. I don't get that time back.
To those that tell me to find a new job...I'm trying. But it is hard to do that when you are in the office all day surrounded by peers.
Also...for those who talk about stock price...not everyone gets stock and secondly...the last couple of years, that stock "given" as part of your comp has been less and less the last couple of years. So yeah...I get a high return off a little stock, which I then have to pay tax on when I sell, so I don't get that much to begin with. Secondly...the incentive is supposed to be income based on performance. When you have to pay it back if you want to leave...that is frustrating.
i was told 9 hours from badge in to badge out. if you go out for an hour at lunch that’s fine. however now we hear different rules

Interesting...so does that mean that the 8hrs includes lunch for associates below grade 11?
To answer @a2+1jnet9s9k's question - I actually inquired about this with HR. To summarize their response:
Grade 11 and above must be in office for an average of 9 hours per day from start to finish. The 9 hours includes a lunch break.
If you skip lunch and leave after 8 hours, you won't meet the 9 hour in office requirement.
If you have lunch off premises, you'd have to make up the hour you were off premises to meet the 9 hour in office requirement.
So either bring your lunch, have your lunch delivered, eat the mediocre, overpriced cafeteria food, or have lunch off premises and make up the hour to meet the 9 hours in office requirement.
Typing this out and being reminded if how draconian these rules are just pi---d me off all over again.

U.S. Work Hours Policy for Salaried Associates
Standard Days and Hours
People managers assigned to a Fiserv office are required to work in the office Monday through
Friday. All other associates are expected to work in the office Monday through Thursday, with an
optional in-office day on Friday, subject to business needs.
U.S. salaried (exempt) incentive eligible associates (typically, Grades 11 and above) are expected to
work in the office, on average, 9 hours per day.
U.S. salaried (exempt) non-incentive eligible associates (typically, Grades 10 and below) are
expected to work in the office, on average, 8 hours per day.
The above expectations are subject to job requirements that might dictate alternative schedules,
including business travel, system-related needs, and other arrangements consistent with Fiserv
policies.
Scope
This policy applies to all U.S. salaried associates who are assigned to work from a Fiserv
office/location but excludes salaried associates who work alternate shifts to support business
operations outside Fiserv's standard operating days and hours (which are Monday-Friday 7 a.m. to
7 p.m.).
Work Hours
Associates are expected to work with their manager to determine a work schedule that aligns and is
within Fiserv's standard operating days and hours as noted above. For example, an approved work
schedule for an incentive eligible associate (typically, Grades 11 and above) could include arriving
at 9:00 am and departing at 6:00 pm. Exceptions must be agreed upon by the associate and the
manager and approved by MC-1. The agreed upon work hours can be adjusted at any time due to
business needs.
Associates requesting an exception to the above requirements should send a written request to
their manager and HR representative. In appropriate circumstances, associates may request time
away from the office for medical or for reasons under the Family Medical Leave Act or Americans
with Disabilities Act and should submit their requests to the Leave of Absence team.
Compliance and Violation
All associates are expected to comply with this policy. Violation of the policy may result in
disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment.
Exceptions
for managers and directors with staff 9 hours m- f in office
for salaried non exempt employees m-t 9 hours. the hours are calculated as 1st badge in and last badge out, have to be 9 hours apary.
Too many freaking rules!
9 hours. Treated as an hourly employee now from my boss. Makeup time, questioned on break times in Sapience. It's a wild ride but surviving. Bad thing is my job isn't a production job.
what if we slip lunch and work for 8hrs? then have lunch at the noon?
