If Trump wants to bring down the unemployment rate close to 0%, then get rid of majority of the H1B and other work visa (as well as student visa) employees. Send them home. Give those jobs to the 4.1% Americans that are currently unemployed and recent American graduates.

Trump doesn’t have direct authority over private corporations unless he issues executive orders that impose penalties—such as higher taxes—on companies that offshore jobs meant for Americans.

Stop picking on Apple. Lots here done by that company. Boycott Nike if you want to hurt a firm avoiding the USA.
Frankly I'm surprised it's held at 4% and wonder how that can be?
What are the underemployment numbers?
Are all these people who are losing their jobs in tech actually finding new work? It just feels like things are teetering for the past 2 years.

I worry a lot more about labor force participation rates than I do the unemployment number. There are tens of millions that could easily work, but are on the dole instead. That's a much bigger problem than sub-5% unemployment.
@ar the US is the outlier with Apple vs Android. The rest of the world is overwhelmingly buying Android compared to Apple. Android is running ~75% of the world's smartphones.
There's no such thing as zero unemployment.
4-6% is considered full employment
@a1 Agree that 4.1% are inept to do the work. Heck that 4.1% think most work is beneath them.
@a7 I am guessing that you forgot that Americans aren’t the only ones buying Apple products, but more so, that Apple is a global corporation.
Ah yes America will achieve economic growth like never before once will bring back the “trades”. Unemployment will go to zero.
You be-clown yourself
@a1 You say, people have out of date skillsets. Well, that's why Trump is taking away money from Universities and Colleges that admit foreign visa students to get an American education, and instead, put that money towards Americans in Trade Schools. If Americans start to have the latest skill set, then they can slowly bring manufacturing back where there wouldn't be shortage of those skill sets. The Federal Government is starting to invest in Americans for American jobs. And American corporations should do the same. But companies like Apple, which was made by Americans with their dollars from buying Apple products, has decided not to invest in Americans. Yet, Americans continue to buy Apple products that they are hooked on, only to lose out those jobs to foreign countries. A self created wound. Stop buying Apple products if they don't bring manufacturing jobs for Americans back to America.
Most of those 4.1% are mo--ns, or have out of date skillsets. I’d say they could work in the fields or sla-ghterhouses or hotels or construction, but let be frank they can’t do that either. At 4.1% we are as near to full employment as we can be. As we age don’t look for labor participation rates to rise either. The unexcapable truth? We need skilled and unskilled labor from our side the country to have our economy run well and to keep the birth rate up.
Thank you for your attention to this matter!
