Thread regarding Nike Inc. layoffs

Tech: Don't budge if you are on remote pilot

Lots of murmurs that managers are trying to bend the rules on this & pressure people into office at random times. Remember that you can't be formally disciplined or actioned for not showing up in-person if your working agreement is remote.

Imagine if you were in Kansas, Michigan, or some other place, if the expectations put on you would be reasonable, because a lot of us remotes live in these LCOL areas.

If you are feeling pressured or intimidated... remember that no one below VP level has been calling the shots on layoffs and there hasn't been budget for IC promotions for years.

If you are one of the WHQ local guys that loves hanging out with your coworkers and getting drinks after hours or whatever... keep having fun. This isn't to detract from that

For the inevitable remote pilot haters... just remember a lot of us pushed for the rest of you to have the same comforts and were ignored

@f8 They literally told people they could move anywhere in the US except a handful of states.

Don’t be such a corporate tool. Su-king up on the layoff board isn’t going to keep you off the next layoff spreadsheet.

Nike gave you the option to be on a remote pilot. PILOT being in important word.

You were not required to move to a cheaper location.

I am not based in Portland and enjoy being able to work remotely.

Fire them if they are not willing to move and come to office. Lot of us have been in hybrid forever.

@a1
If Nike can't manage remotely then it is Nike's responsibility to convert the remote roles into local roles and deal with the overhead of cutting or relocating people who can't or won't make it.

Taking on remote roles and then trying to informally force them local is the definition of "rules for thee and not for me."

Rules for thee but not for me.

Nike can't manage remotely, come back to PDX or find some other company willing to pay you west coast wages in LCOL.
