I may get downvoted but someone has to say it. This recent layoff has revealed that organization rewards:
- yes-people
- easy-to-work-with
- talking but knows when to shut up
and punishes:
- people asking questions to ensure less problems or errors in future
- wants to keep head down & focus on assigned work
- wants to pursue aspirations and not afraid to fail.
Having said that, this type of environment is never sustainable for org as well as people. So, my appeal to everyone is - let's be kind to each other, stop backstabbing and encourage people who want to help org by trying something different. Next few months & years are definitely going to be challenging but it's up to us how healthy or toxic culture we work under.
