Thread regarding Nike Inc. layoffs

Retirement Party any one?

Word has it some of our long time VP's that were just asked to....I mean chose to "Retire" will be having Nike funded retirement parties in the near future. All the while the people that busted for them are anxiously awaiting their fates. Hmmm....seems a tad insensitive but what do I know. XOXO

Why @rzd+1ra9Eqep? They got paid for those 20 years. What more are they owed?

@OP Part of the problem here is the disrespect to the VP talent and how they got where they are. Most of these folks have worked their way up from doing a lot of the “busting” to a high level strategic position. They are getting blind sided layoff meetings as everyone else. Most of these “parties” you refer to will be paid by former colleagues and teams that appreciate their time working together. Use that brain of yours and maybe one day you will be a leader and not do all the busting.

Yes, that right out of the playbook. On Nike's dime.

I agree, 20+ years and you get canned because your compensation pops on a Bain spreadsheet, doesn't deserve comms cut off and a box mailed to you.

If they gave 20 years or more of their career to Nike than they deserve to have a retirement party if they want one. Everything can be misconstrued as insensitive in moments like this. As is the case with nearly every situation, use emotional intelligence and air the side of caution but recognize you’ll never make everyone happy.
