I received a 4 page letter in the mail from
Nike HR detailing our cobra benefits IF I happen to be impacted. Anyone else get this letter? I enrolled my wife in Nike’s benefits for 2024, so wondering if it’s because of that change. Should I take this as a personal warning sign of an impending layoff? Or did every FTE enrolled in Nike’s benefits get this letter for Legal to cover their butts?

OP here, thank you everyone!
Calm down @OP, it's literally the law.
"ERISA requires group health plans to give you an SPD within 90 days after you become a plan participant"
https://www.dol.gov/agencies/ebsa/about-ebsa/our-activities/resource-center/publications/an-employees-guide-to-health-benefits-under-cobra#cobra-notice-and-election-procedures
This is a normal paper that comes when enrolling.
For the love of God. Can’t Nike HR get anything right??!!
if you have recently joined Nike benefit (The plan) that letter is expected and does nothing to do with you potentialy getting layoff. By law, Nike needs to let you know you are enrolled in the Cobra plan as a benefit. That is all.
I enrolled my wife recently and got the letter from HR as well. I initially assumed it was triggered by what they call a life event. But thinking about it now I feel HR just messed up the timing. OP, take it easy.
Did the letter specifically state if you get laid off? If not I’d assume you are getting cut.
COBRA is for continuing benefits after termination of employment. Interpret that how you wish.
Oh hit I now have to check my mail. Darn it
It would not surprise me in the least if this layoff was f’ed up to the point they couldn’t even coordinate the vendors/comms timing to happen after we’ve been notified. Going to check the mail first thing when I get home.
FTE here, and I didn't receive anything yet will check through next week and update. I hope not if so, that's wild
