Thread regarding Nike Inc. layoffs

Hang On!

Recent posts and threads are showing folks are beginning to melt down from stress of the unknown.
A few more weeks max. Hang in there, do the bare minimum and then take a few days of pto if you survive the cuts. We got this…
Do not quit before severance. Be strong. Just a little while longer….

Just be sure not to "vocalize" your doing the bare minimum for the RIF. I knew a few people back in 2020 who did that, I felt management knew about it. So they both kept their jobs and performance managed out, however one quit before they got terminated and the other rode it all the way down and made a big scene.

Easy statement - look busy, keep normal appearances, and maybe you get the package. If you don't, you still got a job and don't have to deal with your poor decisions until you're ready to plan your next move.

As for PTO, don't take it before your group is done as PTO is paid out and you'll have plenty of off time if you are laid off

Start your job search anyway. I am praying for severance, but I’ll be leaving regardless of whether or not I’m part of the layoffs. After 3 years, the hard RTO+lack of sound senior management+stereotypically toxic corporate culture doesn’t make this company a long term fit for me personally after 3 years. I am guessing that over time legacy companies like Nike will continue to lose top talent in tech to younger competitors whose real estate footprint does not necessitate hard in-office policies. I wish all the best to the great people I work with who are bought in to the Beaverton ecosystem… but I know there is better stuff out there for me.

OK, this one was actually a good post! Thanks OP. Yes, let's remind ourselves that it won't be forever and it is just a temporary situation. Do not quit. Wait it out to find out. Look for work, put minimal effort, and take a few days PTO.

Quitting now is not smart. Either you keep your job or you get severance. You can however start your Job search if you think you will be hit.
