We just got moved to a different floor In HQ, and there's not enough desks for the number of people. But they require us to be in office 5 days a week sitting on this floor. We can't leave stuff on our desks because it's supposed to be flex seating but people do. And if you get there later than 8am, good luck sitting somewhere with a monitor. People are buying their own portible monitors. They are sitting in the lunch area and hopping from huddle room to huddle room. It's f***ed.

As VP’s move up the corporate ladder and make decisions logical thinking goes away they start confusing employees with cattle
You’re lucky. Our offices haven’t had rolls of paper for a few days now. I guess I’m just going to smear the scent into the seats in the drop in cubes.
I got a great office. Nice swinging door. Comfortable seat. Rolls of paper to take notes on. It just smells once in a while.
@k0 yeah, except when you make everyone come in 5 days there’s gonna be A LOT of days when people aren’t on vacation. Stupid rules that haven’t been properly thought out
ACS? Make sure you show up so that new VP can see you while she destroys the entire org.
More total people are assigned to work locations than total desks because it is assumed that a certain percentage of folks are out of the office each day (PTO, travel, etc.). Of course, this causes issues on days when everyone shows up (not enough desks and not enough parking).
This was Alpharetta, building 300, when I left last year. So glad I’m gone. Five days in the office would be no big deal if you had a dedicated desk and could actually park but that’s not what AT&T is. They want you in five days a week playing musical chairs with not enough desks, and not enough parking. I don’t think corporate Americas at that point yet just At&Twhere it is like playing musical chairs - 100% of the workforce is constantly vying for a temporary space that can hold only 80% of said workforce
Simple, put little mailbox flags at each workstation. When you sit, put the flag down. At night, have the cleaning crews reset the flags.
Don’t like that plan? Have the TDPs come up with a better plan.
What? Not enough desks?? I know, let’s spend billions and build a new HQ!
@gq “and yet you stay”
I think I know you, is your name Meezoh Hornee?
@gq it’s clear you don’t even work here. We know the truth. Your trolling attempt is pathetic and weak.
Another made up story just like the other day
And yet you stay
@eb This is followed by a daily episode of "The Walking Dead" as the late arrivals walk around the office with a blank stare on their face, desperately searching for an open desk, only to have the fleeting hope they feel while approaching the 'perfect' desk get crushed like a bug on the sidewalk as they realize that the desk is already occupied.
I know this person LOL... wait till I roll up to your desk tomorrow!
@OP welcome to the modern version of “The Hunger Games”
You’ve never played musical chairs??
You are almost out.
@OP Things that didn't happen
@cg so what you are basically saying is, that all of corporate America treats their employees like they work in a call center. That is considered progress… lord help us.
Unfortunately, this is what leadership wants. You are just a cog and an expense in their machine, and they care less about you. Inflicting pain and suffering is intentional. In fact, it is the unspoken and unwritten additional culture pillar. The more miserable the work environment is, it will translate into resignations. No severance payments required so, so it is the preferred attrition method. It is what leadership jokingly likes to refer to as “shaking the trees”.
They really are abhorrent and sorry excuses for human beings.
Sit on the floor.
You must work in the Galvanek organization under JVB. We had to be in Dallas and our AD gets to stay in Atlanta with one other teammate while the rest of us were made to move. Not enough desks, the area to eat is taken over by people working with no where to sit. Then there are her favorites that are allowed to be remote and never go to the office.
Open office seating has become the standard in corporate America.
@OP Here's your reward for the biggest, whiniest, least professional, sophomoric, poor me post today so far. Can you hear the world's tiniest violin?!!!
Report it to GRE and your supervisor. Then go out on workers comp for your back and neck due to ergonomics issues.
They still have 30k to cut by Q1, don’t worry there will be desks soon enough. Another 10% cut in Sept followed by another 10% in Jan.
Make no mistake…it’s intentional. Those Machiavellians are seeking any means to ratchet up the pressure. They want folks gone asap…sans severance.
Feature, not a bug
The ones that make the rules have desks. The rest have to fend for themselves. The problem will take care of itself given the wave of layoffs rumored to be coming.
@a2 why September
Not having enough seating in HEADQUARTERS of all places is insanity. Its a multistory building and I guarantee you not every floor is at capacity. They're trying to make you as uncomfortable as possible so you'll leave on your own.
Cool story bro.
I was surplussed last year and would love to come back even if meant 5 days in the office.
See you on the commute! But stay behind me on the road so I can have a better chance at securing a desk.
A lot more flex seating will be available in September. Until then, set an alarm and be in by 7.
