Does anyone have any visibility or knowledge about the future of project managers in this company? We once had a PMP ( Project Management Practice ).. Moved in and out of Center of Excellence.
Are we part of the target group for firing? Any knowledge of where the future of PMs is headed in the company? Perhaps folks in the US who are closer to organizational decisions can answer.
@a9 From what I have heard by FIS and (inadvertently) Cognizant management is that FIS will be rebadging other areas. The banking slash in March was one of many waves, and not the first either. This happened at least once prior in 2026 with other areas.
FIS is trying to significantly cut costs to position a sale of business units or of the company entirely. Makes it much easier if you don’t have any “real” employees, only third party contractors doing all the work.

FTE Project managers will no longer exist. The push has been to use third party consultants (McKinsey/GT/PWC/etc) to act in that role.
@a6 Wow! That largely answers the question. So no real future here, or just that everyone's on borrowed time. This was what happened in March I presume and all from banking, since you mentioned Cognizant?
@OP Under my director, there are 33 Project Managers. Only six were rebadged to Cognizant, the rest were given a last day at FIS. From what has transpired since the March massacre, the viewpoint of this in charge (whether this is McKinsey telling them or not) is that a Project Manager is a Project Manager, application experience need not apply. A legacy Cognizant employee took the first new conversion for a rather large bank.
