Thread regarding Fannie Mae layoffs

If only I could switch off for a moment

The stress from the layoff rumors and the economic uncertainty is just constantly hanging over me. It feels like the job has taken over every corner of life, and there’s no real break from worrying about what might happen next. It’s exhausting, and this isn’t how anyone should have to live. But here we are.

@OP I was once in your situation of living in fear and worrying every day. I chose to take control of my own path, took the severance package, and started my journey into purchasing an existing business that generates cash flow. the kind that creates income whether I show up or not. was it scary? sure. but living in constant fear of what might happen is its own kind of prison.

Relax, if you think of that job that way you are basically an indentured servant. It might seem awful but I know many that get too comfortable then get laid off and say it is the best thing that happened to them. Be at least grateful that the layoff package is pretty good there and not like a lot of other companies where you get nothing. Diversify your skills...they aren't the only company to work for.

You are living in the past. Start living in the moment and plan for the future. There are no layoffs in the future. Plan and live accordingly.

Breathe, you were alive before you had this job and you'll be alive after. It stinks but things are changing rapidly things and strategies that worked even just a month ago don't work today. All I can say is do not be passive in this pick a path and plant your feet and pick a path, all that passivity and worry bought is wasted time and someone else picking your future for you and they don't have much planned.
