Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

Leadership mistakes are costing us

It feels like money disappears every quarter thanks to sloppy management decisions. A lot of the newer leaders just don’t have the experience to handle these situations, and it shows. Staff end up scrambling to cover mistakes that shouldn’t even be happening. It's exhausting watching the same problems repeat.

@OP You don’t have leaders. You have bosses. Not the same thing.

@OP If this person is who I think he is, he has left a trail of nothing behind his rise to the top of explorations. Just had the right look, followed directions, didn't rock the boat and while a nice guy, didn't have an original thought in his head. He also sponsored and brought along with him they same kind of people and the mess continued.

The leadership cost to EM is before the first exploration well in Guyana the head of exploration group proposed to leadership in Dallas that EM sell all the interest in Guyana leases and not waste any money on an exploration well.

Dallas rejected that proposal and instructed the head of exploration to sell enough interest to gain funds to cover the cost of the exploration well, so that EM lost no money on a fry hole.

EM would be 100% owner of the Guyana leases if the head of exploration had just listened to everyone in his department that was claiming Guyana seismic looked as good as our leases in West Africa.

One manager cost EM billions of dollars for not listening to our experts.

So what? They still get raises more than us. Can you change it? No. Then STFU.
