Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

Still too many PEs and Senior PEs

Intel PEs and Senior PEs are worthless commanding $400K+ compensation but delivering grade 8 work. Most need to go.

The title of PE and Sr PE needs to be eliminated completely. Its a political thing, not a competency thing.

I am Gr7, and last week I provided step by step instructions to a PE on how to install Python on her PC because she had no clue! This is the average level of the competency of a PE level engineer at Intel. Shocking! Wrong people have been promoted to the wrong positions for the wrong reasons for way too long. Now Intel is paying the price by not getting any returns from those expensive strategic roles and positions that are now hemorrhaged.

Yup, a lot of PE's and higher are very useless, its a sort of "buddy" culture of promoting there own and hogging the space.

However, there are a few rare PE's or higher that actually did hands on work. I was fortunate enough to work with at least 2x PE's that were actually doing Engineering work (writing specs, designing boards, writing code, bringing up new solutions). However those one's took Intel Lottery and left. So sad, but they earned it after many decades at intel.

Well I guess these people are making Intel in this deep sh-t troubles. Let LBT replace all of them to do the works. He got paid even more to just corrupt this company.

I told my manager to be careful to hire Intel PE, since most of them are not capable to finish real engineer work, plus they may bring in terrible Intel culture.

PEs, Senior PEs and Fellow positions are political positions. They survive by favoritism and br-nosing.

Gr8 and below employees are the reason why Intel still exists. They do the hard work and all the rest benefit. Anyways, most of those employees are leaving gradually and time will tell if GR9 and above add value and can rescue Intel. I already know the answer to that!

Intel has way too many PEs and Senior PEs, pulling in big salaries and doing little other than expressing their opinion here and there.

Grade 8 is a compliment. Grade 7’s work harder than then the 10’s. Most 10’s coasting on wins from the past. But doing very little to roadmap wins in the future.
