Thread regarding Bank of America layoffs

Jobs are even scarcer than I thought

I've learned the hard way that just because jobs are listed online doesn’t mean the company is actually hiring. Some postings feel more like window dressing than real opportunities. It wastes my time and achieves absolutely nothing. It's infuriating, if you want the truth.

Job board is meaningless. You gotta kizz azz and boots to get ahead here. Pretend to be shiny,fakey, plastic squeaky clean Yes Person and you're golden.

As managers, we are basically mandated to shop Internally first. It's like pulling teeth to get an external hire.

Claims suggest that Asians, particularly those on H-1B and H-4 EAD visas, dominate the tech sector due to nepotism. Nepotism refers to the practice of favoring relatives or friends, often by granting them jobs or benefits regardless of their qualifications, which can undermine fairness and merit in professional settings.
However, does this imply that all managers, senior managers, executives, or senior executives in tech are Asian and exclusively recruit other Asians? This seems unlikely. The tech industry is diverse and competitive, with hiring processes typically involving multiple stakeholders, including HR, technical panels, and leadership teams. While cultural or community networks can influence hiring, systemic factors like educational attainment, global talent pools, and visa programs also contribute to the strong presence of Asians in tech. Nepotism alone cannot account for this trend, as it oversimplifies complex hiring dynamics and ignores the qualifications and merit of individuals in these roles.

@OP

You nailed it! BAC and other companies have placed bogus jobs to the public because it is a legal requirement. 85% of the time the job is filled internally

I feel this to my core .. a year of looking internally AND externally and I am still in the exact same place .. it’s so discouraging. I hate that I have bills and need income or I would have just left.

On this board many have warned and advised others to get out and told of brighter futures on other horizons.

If you did not heed these posters then you only have yourself to blame and now you are stuck at a place which you not only dislike but has shown its hand in bandwagoning the layoff epidemic.

In short, they wont hesitate to lay you off at the most oppertunistic moment and in the meantime you can suffer too.

Meanwhile most of us who warned you are working cozily 100% from home with gainful employment becouse they sc--wed up their last round and let some top players, and the rest just left on their own accord.

It's not AI taking control it's the hiring practices that are happening, the gatekeeping, only hiring by a certain group of people. The truth has to be spoken, it's not being racist it's the ugly truth of hiring nowadays.

Everyone is always posting how we should leave and find new roles outside of BOA but where????? No one is hiring like they used to, AI is taking over a lot and we are left with scraps and interviews that go 3-4 rounds and take months. If you have a job right now and even if you hate it I wouldn't look for anything new at this moment or do anything that will cost you your job.

Yes, the job market is not doing well at all despite claims to the contrary. If you havd a job then hold onto it for dear life.
