I just wanted to extend a warm congratulations to the very senior IT managers. You have managed to totally destroy the morale in IT in less than two years. As someone who has worked in IT for decades, WF IT is now a shell of its former self. You have let a cr-p load of intellectual capital just waltz on out of the bank because they were not in one of your precious DEI hub cities. A lot of these people who are leaving are taking with them the knowledge of how all these systems interface and why things are done a certain way along with all of the gotchas. You may want to buckle up and get prepared for a hard landing in the next couple of years. Just keep sending all of this work overseas. You are in for a very rude awakening. Very few people in IT will take ownership of an issue or extend a helping hand these days. I can’t tell you how many instant messages and emails I send to fellow employees to get help with very important issues and most of them are met with little to no response. So as I exit stage left, I can’t help but feel sorry for the ones left behind. As someone who has worked in IT for decades, I know all of signs and symptoms before it all pretty much implodes and you are about there. I see all of the failures like EPL and the Cloud. I see all of the horrible strategic decisions that are made along with all of these subpar tools you give developers. The availability of some of these tools are totally shameful. One of the largest IT failures is this ba----dized implementation of the Agile methodology you have rolled out. All you’ve done is regressed back to a waterfall methodology but most of you all are too stupid to see it. My suggestion to you all is get your head out of your a$$.

Yep. It's the inevitable result of Shartism. The best, most capable people will leave. They have the most marketable skills, so they exit first. Then you get rid of 90% of the country as being a place you're allowed to live. Then you spend years giving people cr-p increases, not promoting from within, and generally giving the impression that there's no future here. Who the heck do you think you'll be left with after that goes on for 5-10 years?
It is going to be interesting if the BE Columbus skunkworks is going to keep up the agile charade (i.e. "wagile") . At BNY she is known for extending agile to all areas. However, she is more of a senior exec at WF where senior execs are supposed to be focused on the "what" and not necessarily the "how". I have noticed that the current job descriptions contain fewer mentions of agile practices.
I've been at the bank off and on for 12 years. IT Productivity really took a nose dive starting with covid. You would think with so many stuck indoors it would go up . The new policies and bandwagon changes have been near fatal to getting work done. The gaps between app releases on my team has become larger and larger - greater effort is required than ever before to get out simple releases. Morale is super low and the professionals who take pride in their work are heading out the door. The bank is left with the unmotivated and unprofessional.
Being forced to use Agile for time tracking purposes is horrible. My team has -0- engineers. Our admin work has increased 3 fold as we are still also tracking time elsewhere. Never thought I would miss STAMP.
They will get the bare minimum out me. I will keep all of the gotchas to myself. Let them figure it out themselves. I’ll just send them a link to a confluence page.
When has IT ever been ran well? I've been here almost 20 years and they always have excuses. It's just a different excuse this time.
The irony of the AI push is that every single piece of WF-approved training says AI use requires heavy human oversight to manage the risk of hallucinations, exposing MNPI, or proprietary information. But they get rid of smart people in favor of low-cost newbs.
