Thread regarding Global Payments Inc. layoffs

Unionize

Is anyone interested in creating a union? Is that an option? Will it help employees have more for a say on what is going on with this company? Will it protect employees?

Is there anyone who is starting the process?

@OP Yes very interested - check out https://cwa-union.org/ as another person posted recently. The only power you have at work is your ability to withhold your labor together with your colleagues. You can contact them and they will happily give you the initial steps to start organizing your department.

Keep in mind that many states are "right to work" meaning they can fire you for any or no reason. Not saying this to scare you out of unionizing but being realistic as the job market su-ks right now.

Ignore the other poster's anti-union bs, unionizing is far more than 'just another tax'. If you can manage to 'just find another job' in this economy then go ahead

I believe you have to pay a hefty price to a union boss out of your paycheck. To me its not worth it. It is just another tax. Free money out of your hard earned paycheck to someone else. I would rather find another job. I think our people in Columbus, will have to bite the bullet and think about relocating. TSYS is dead and global payments has ki-led it. If FIS has the same policies, eventually no local columbus residents will have jobs at the TSYS campuses. You all will have to move to atlanta and trust me, its really bad here in atlanta. you can't go anywhere. I just stay home because every where you go you sit in traffic. It takes an hour to do a 15 min drive here in atlanta.
