Thread regarding Truist Bank layoffs

Brighter days are ahead

I was in the group laid off back in June. For everyone impacted by the recent round of layoffs I am very sorry; however, believe me when I say brighter days are ahead. Since no longer being apart of Truist, my stress level and overall well-being has improved greatly. I am now exploring a career area I never considered and am thriving! I was employed by Truist for less than two years and I can say without hesitation, joining Truist was the worst professional mistake of my career.

Middle and executive management are inept in their roles, quality control is clueless in maintaining consistency and accuracy with their findings. I have never worked in such an unsupportive environment where it felt as though the company deliberately made it impossible for employees to complete their jobs successfully.

Without my the support of my team, I would have quit well before being laid off. Truist has potential to be a great company but I do not ever see the company going beyond having potential. Incompetent leadership, poor and inconsistent quality control metrics, lack of qualified talent in key positions, and a sense of middle and executive management being out of touch would be a few ways I would characterize my experience with Truist.

For those afraid to leave Truist, my advice would be if you are miserable, take a chance see what other career opportunities are out there. I am now pursuing a career outside of lending and banking and could not be happier!

To whomever decided the manner in which employees were laid off was a good idea - shame on you. The manner in which myself and other colleagues were laid off was cold, heartless, and completely against the values of the company. I have nothing good to say about the organization and how employees were treated. Furthermore, I hope someday you receive the same treatment you bestowed upon your employees.

God speed to anyone impacted by the layoffs - I sincerely believe being laid off from this toxic company will be for the best in the long run!

I truly hope the OP doesn't mind that I have copied this into a new thread, but this should not have been hidden among replies. The OP is @4rdl+1jhKE7bM.

I am so sorry how everyone has been treated with the RIF’s! In my experience over many years (2004 on) it is the legal department and HR that drives the actual process of how RIF’s are handled. I took VSRP, last year. That said, there is absolutely no excuse for mortgage managers getting on a call, laughing and congratulating Cox while you all sat there and saw their despicable behavior!

@OP+1jnSF6gG - fantastic post! The only part I disagree with is this: “the manner in which myself and other colleagues were laid off was cold, heartless, and completely against the values of the company.”

If anything, the way you and your colleagues were treated is ABSOLUTELY 100% consistent with the way this executive team has treated all other “teammates” at Truist. It is beyond apparent at this point that this Truist executive team views atrocious employee treatment as perfectly consistent with their ahem, “values”.

I can’t BELIEVE the difference between my new job and Truist. At Truist, Sunday night is a time of true dread as you know what the week ahead holds. At my new company, I honestly look forward to going to work, and that is the honest truth. To those at Truist that are scared to jump - there is a world out there that actually will treat you like a human and a valued employee - not a piece of trash to be discarded.

I agree! I worked 30 yrs and took the volunteer retirement, best thing I could have done. My stress is gone and now sit outside in the morning with my hot coffee listening to the birds.
