Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Official RIF notices this week

Official notices are going to be given this week. Some have had soft notices last few weeks but there are quite few that will get totally surprised. Don’t be. This is how Verizon is.

Post as you get notified. Intent is to share and learn so we know we are not alone. I will be notifying a few people as well that don’t know yet.

@v9+1jmtwcze6 not all RIFs are performance based. Most aren't. It takes months to plan these RIFs.

@dq+1jmtwcze6 don't know where you got your information, but standard severance is 2 weeks/year capped at 35 weeks for bands 6 and below.

They are opening more fios pso outsorced sites in Mexico, started this month and will continue. So are these cut numbers mentioned earlier specifically for Fios ???

It's 5% now. 15% additional mid year, and 10% end of year. 30% total.

I can't imagine it being vz overall headcount because that would be 30000 heads being cut.

Call center representatives need to be cut. They had a chance to RTO and prove there worth. Most decided not to. So now all the call are outsourced , now they are not needed.

Union stuff is always negotiated independently from "management"

For anyone wondering about numbers. It's 5% now. 15% additional mid year, and 10% end of year. 30% total.

We are in GTS. I can confirm this being true. My manager gave me ‘soft notice’ couple of weeks ago and said this week I will get the notice with payout calculations. This package is not as good as VSP last year but still better than other companies. Writing is on the wall. This DEI and ESG infested culture and leadership team doesn’t know which way to take this great company. Absolutely heartbreaking to watch this ship sinking!!!

Try to get a doctors appointment if you know for sure you will be laid-off. Then tell the doctor you are stressed at work, can't focus, get headaches, feel anxious, etc. and need to go on short-term disability. That will buy you a few weeks (perhaps 90% of pay). Then on your next doctors appointment, tell the doctor you are not ready to go back to work due to high blood pressure, stress, anxiety, back pain, etc. That will buy you a few more weeks.
