I'd like to say I'm absolutely shocked that some generic talentless generic straight white males that add no value are still employed. But I'm not.
For a company that likes to harp on about it's diversity and other meaningless platitudes it's no surprise that these cockroaches still have jobs.
For what it's worth, corporations use diversity and ERG's as a facade to say "hey! we're contributing!" but it's all part of the same old capitalist machine lol. To expect anything tangible and socially meaningful from a behemoth ran by tech capitalists is futile. So yes, preaching diversity from a corporation is empty, to expect otherwise is to give them credit they aren't due
Think there will definitely be more VPs that will be let go, soon. No one is secure right now.
When I started years ago, a manager would manage 20-25 direct reports. Those managers have seen promotion after promotion, and now they are directors, senior directors, and VPs. And the ICs have declined through layoffs and attrition. Now there are directors, sr. directors, and vps managing 3-5 ICs. And those same managers will tell you that they'd love to promote you but it's just about impossible to get approval - while every year they've climbed through the management ranks.
And there we go….. took about 5 minutes to make the tragic job loses about racism. You should be embarrassed.

OP, to make the budget cuts / layoffs fair you think race and s-xuality should be taken into account and not value to the company or project alignment?

Such a stupid post... to think this is anything other than Oracle saving money is absurd. Oracle doesn't care about your race of se-ual orientation, they care about money. Each employee is just a dollar sign.

@OP, that’s bullsh-t. They have been planning this carefully, probably with a bunch of lawyers making sure no one can sue them for any kind of discrimination.
I know of three straight white male VPs who were let go, and two straight non-white male VPs who were let go.
Let me guess. No management was let go. VP or higher.
