Judging by my manager’s behavior, I knew something was brewing. I was terribly worried about being cut, and now that it has happened, I feel some weird kind of relief. No more stress, just a relief... Even if it's hard to find a new job, I'm glad this chapter is over. Interestingly, the colleagues who also got cut didn't look too disappointed either.

Got the news along with 307 fellow employees in Ireland that we are no longer needed. Mexico, APAC is cheaper than us.

Directors and above do not get laid off. They are given the choice of being of resigning or stating that they are retiring. Either way they get a great package.
It's surprising that none of the cuts included anything at the Director levels. I know a parallel team that pivoted from Analytics to Data Science and that strategy proved disastrous, and yet, they laid off the actual hard working folks - Lower level analysts. This director got a promotion for bringing in extra headcount at the SM level who do nothing but move paper. It says something when 7 people under a director are laid off - That the strategy was flawed in the first place. Appalling. You can get a rocket scientist to solve a problem but YOU need to understand the problem first. Throwing money is never the answer. I hope YOU are reading this.
