Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Not much longer

I already see about 1-2 in my area leaving per week. It won't be much long. When the 401k match hits, and soon after the bonus, there will be a flood leaving. The thing that is most disturbing is the best people are leaving, the ones with motivation and options and the ones who do 90% of the real progress moving this shithole forward.
The company has zero upward mobility for employees outside of Charlotte. Unless your in Charlotte your career and income don't grow. The only place doing better than NC is India. You don't promote good employees and keep kicking them, and they leave and kick your a-s working for another bank. Great strategy.

I negotiated signing bonus that directly compensated for 401K match and bonus. It was also 20% higher base salary. My last day is next week.

I didn't think it was possible to have hope again and to meet people jazzed about their work and the company. Their normalcy made me fully realize just how toxic WF is.

I've never been happier to leave a company.

this dude says 1-2 people per week. If your LOB has 100 people that is 4-8 people per month or a 4-8% turnover rate. That seems awfully high. i have seen teams that had 3 - 4 terminations in the past week, but no. some of these moves are internal transfers not resignations or layoffs. total exaggeration.

maybe Charlotte for your lob, but different for many others as has been stated. I know California has been off the table for a few lobs like risk but have heard rumors that might be changing given the large exedous of talent and struggle to find comparable talent elsewhere. But who knows.

I'll be vigorously starting my job search in December with the hope to have something by Feb/Mar. Want my match and want my bonus.

Happens every year. 2021 was big on resignations after bonuses (especially when raises were pathetic). It'll be worse in 2022 I bet.

There are indeed opportunities for upward mobility in places other than Charlotte. However, Wells has a history of not promoting employees ("the only way up is out"), and with the location strategy in place the bank has (purposefully?) made it hard to move to other lines of business, where designated hub cities might be different.

Charlotte, New York, Minneapolis, California, are all upward growth. Arizona, Iowa, and Missouri are limited growth. The rest would be low or no growth.

Been promoted 3 times, never set foot in Charlotte. You MAY have a point, so stop sabotaging it with demonstratively inaccurate "facts".

Depends on your LOB. Some may have Charlotte as a grow site, while others have it as maintain. Ours (EDM) is maintain so any new opportunities will come from AZ, IA, or MN.

Hmmm. I disagree that Charlotte is only place to grow your career.
