Thread regarding Follett layoffs

The end is near…

Everyone should buckle up! The next 4-6 weeks are going to be like a wild roller coaster ride. Except, in the end, everyone’s ride ends in a big pile of cow s**t. You think labor is challenged now, it won’t be when there are no team members remaining at your store. Big named schools shouldn’t worry, this is a plan of attack on smaller, unprofitable or near unprofitable accounts. This isn’t a threat or attempt to scare, this is true and reality of what’s to come. If you have to ask, “well what about my store?…”, then the answer is YES. Get ready - it won’t be the fun ride the leadership is promoting. And remember, Follett is OWNED by a private equity firm. This really shouldn’t surprise anyone.

Oh, and you can send an extra special thank you to your GVPs because they are leading this charge.

I wish my school would just take over the bookstore and give me the managers job. I'm here almost 15 years and apparently only good enough to be a fill in manager when the managers leave for another job. I'm tired of this bullsh-t. I'm ready to walk away as soon as I can with no notice

BTW, at least in Illinois, it is illegal to ask employees NOT to take lunch breaks after they have worked a certain number of hours straight (5?). MANDITORY!

We are 4 days into rush and it's a nightmare. Extremely long lines, angry customers, lack of textbooks because we shipped all that sh-t to other stores so now our customers are lacking. CMM can't order books because she is on a register with the rest of us. Digital books not working (stupid students or bad codes I don't know) . We can't pull any soda orders during the day because we don't have enough employees. Store manager has been staying late to do the orders by herself. (Don't really feel bad about that since she was taking a lot of personal time for family emergencies the last few months and not using her paid time off or vacation.) Pretty much the nightmare we all assumed. Lol

GVP SZ doesn't swing that way! HA! I knew SZ when SZ was a front line "contributor" in a store. You wouldn't recognize SZ. Different team, different person. Never warm and cuddly, but wasn't yet a Vichy conspirator, either. follett creates its own brand of monsters. .

Best rush ever! I always dreamed of going through rush alone in my store and never getting a break. It truly was a dream come true. The leadership team are the smartest and most talented group of leaders ever and I hope they continue to take away all of our support so I can truly be all alone in my store. GVP SZ can suck a big d*ck all day, oh wait, she doesn’t swing that way. Oh well, I guess I’ll keep chugging along until the campus decides to fire Follett…which is right around the corner from what I’ve heard. Good day, mates.

What are “you” doing? You are cutting labor in every place you can, reducing capital, accelerating our release dates, not communicating with us (did anyone even read the survey?), and making everyone do three jobs. OTC says they don’t have bandwidth because you have cut them, we don’t have bandwidth, and you just delegate. Not to mention the mass exit because of culture, moral, and lack of leadership. You want to win this group over, take action, lead from the front, and don’t just post about it. This forum rules you guilty until innocent, so prove that you are not guilty like I have to prove I need labor hours. Data… Data…. Data as you all would say. And maybe try coming into the office everyday like I have to come into the store even when I am sick. Vacation… ha!

I promise the leadership is better than what this is implying. We are doing everything we can to make things work. Most are just ungrateful for all the work we are putting in or don’t understand how to run a business. If you aren’t happy, please leave the company so we can make progress.
