@9ixc+1vp60JDp We have the same in the UK, its a statuary right to request alternative working arrangements and they have to have a fairly good reason to say no (you work in a factory for instance) and once its granted its almost impossible to remove.

Just watch as the younger folks start voting in politicians who will ban RTO mandates and make remote work requests a legal right. That will be the end of office real estate and the "receptionist". In Ireland, they seem to have this figured out quite well!

@ ID: @8imn+1vp60JDp.....considering your turn of phrase, plus the non functional AV equipment comment.....I'll hazard a guess that you're Paddy Irish Man?? ( I'm allowed say that, I'm a Paddy Irish man myself).
Anyway, if your referring to the Dublin office, yeah, you are right, I'd say maybe 25% capacity tops maybe.
Going into an office in Dublin....to have a call with others , based in the US....just madness.

@3kqk+1vp60JDp At my office, on any given day one is likely to see the receptionist, a guy with a clipboard, or one particularly pro-office manager peeking into offices and conference rooms to see who all is there.

Meanwhile, we've got people having to log into teams on their laptops for meetings, because we have folks who are permanently remote, and because the conference room AV equipment doesn't work.

More productive my ar-e.

I see an opportunity to sell my services as a badge swiper for my colleagues as a nice, viable side hustle for SAP. 20 EUR per week per employee.

They can track your badge data/network logins and count them. We had a presentation done by one of the office contractors and it shows a graph on badge attendance. With Tuesdays - Thursdays being the busiest. So yes they can track how many people have come in but I am not sure if they can pinpoint names.

I actually don't want more people in the office (people talking out loudly in meetings I don't need to know about, money wasting eat-outs, saying Hi to every 3rd person I walk past, them taking up the microwaves, etc.). Even though I am not mandated, I actively encourage people there to stay home.

@3ukk+1vp60JDp they do not monitor people directly but they seem to run numbers on office network logins to verify adherence.

They don't monitor people at the office either. SAP offices are places to horse around. Not get your work done. I used to stay after when I'm in the office or work at home to catch up cause I can't focus in the office. Now I just don't get as much done. I don't want to give up my personal time over bad management.

Some coworkers had a sx map drawn on a dry erase board a few weeks ago. I joined them and knew about most of them. We talked about how we're more familiar with how employees are related through sx than we are how we are related in the organization. Its funny cause its true.

If you want people to go back to the office 5 days a week:

Pay them 50% extra every day on their daily salary that they are in the office,
Pay for their transportation/car insurance/train fares,
Pay for their groceries.
Subsidise their city CBD rents as you are forcing them to rent premium rates.

If these business leaders are so fanatical about RTO mandates, they would pay you more to get back in but none of these cheap skates will!

Also, climate change is not an excuse to avoid RTOs. But financially sc--wing employees over is!
