Thread regarding PNC layoffs

Has anyone filed for a medical exemption to continue WFH?

I'm curious.

@1zh Just wanted to speak up and let you know my dr warned me of the same retaliation. He said it wouldn't be direct, but you would probably be a priority layoff when it comes. I kind of laughed because I feel I'm going to get laid off anyway based on the track record of my dept and what I've seen. Like many people on here, it's just a really hopeless feeling right now.

Use AI to pull together language and legal cases from ADA for your particular scenario. Provide this to your doctor as a supporting artifact to assist them in formulating the exemption request.

Also don’t let anyone scare you into not submitting the request. The worst they can do is deny your request.

If at any point you feel retaliation - reach out to the National Labor Relations Board (skip the ethics line - they only represent the company) and file an ADA retaliatory claim.

I would be cautious seeking an exemption even if you have a good reason. My dr told me that she experienced a lot of patients with compromised immune systems, even due to cancer, get terminated after receiving exemptions (from various companies).

I inquired about it since my son has frequent seizures. WFH has helped me manage work while being available when seizures ok. His drs are trying to get his seizures under control but haven’t been successful yet. I was told that it is not a valid reason to request WFH. The employee has to have a medical or religious reason themselves to be able to request it. The stress of RTO and being away from him will certainly become a medical reason for me. I’d love nothing more than for him to be seizure free and have th ability to go anywhere. That just isn’t the case today.

@OP are you trying to tell everyone you can’t even come in one day? That’s ridiculous. I see people come in with disabilities every day and have crutches and all kinds of things to keep them mobile. If you can drive yourself to the doctors and go grocery shopping on your own, you certainly can come into the office. I’m curious what your “ disability” is.

What makes you think you’re so special and the rest of us have to come in five days a week? If I was your boss, I would get rid of you. We no longer need your services. Time for you to retire.

If you can’t work quit. Go on SSI.

@OP good luck with that. Some aches and pains aren’t going to get you approval. You have to be battling cancer to be honest. They will tell you to get a cane if you can’t walk. There are no exceptions.
