Who Is Getting The Axe This Thursday?

My money is on indirect and retail ops. Dead wood walking.

I’m just glad they can’t touch the GNT groups.

Anyone making 120k should be ashamed of this “work list”. Verizon could pay someone half that and there would be no loss of sales. Att is your proof.

Won’t change when you’re gone— 35% of VZ gross adds
— quoted less deacs
Ris calls can be done by customer escalation groups — RIS calls : 5 Star
They will still have their own meetings when you’re gone — Meetings with Agents weekly
This can and has been outsourced — Ensure VZ brand
Escalations can go to customer service — Multiple escalations daily to fix
If your locations are close — 2/3 visits a day
Promo fixes are going down, agents can do them— 300 promo fixes a month

Let’s be honest here. I was an Indirect Acct Manager many many years ago. The job was completely different. We had a lot of localized ownership and premium agents. It is not the case anymore. It is seriously a vendor job. Remember when they had vendors visiting Walmart? If and when VZ fixes the promo problem, what will they be doing? Agents have so much access now. They really don’t need IAMs. All marketing is done digitally. We used have hang signs and work on MDF. That’s all done by HQ. The entire role can go away and there will be very little impact. The notion that this role was GM is silly. Maybe a solution manager but a GM? It is not even in the same pay grade. I like the banter but let’s not get ahead of ourselves. ATT did away with them and outsourced the entire department and added 650K subs last qtr and 2.9 million in 22. Impact will be marginalized. I don’t people to lose their jobs but stating something that is not true is not right.

With all this back and forth about account managers… any insight or solid knowledge if they will have impacts next week?
I don’t mean like opinion or assumptions, any actual knowledge?

You don’t drive 40% of the business, the indirect stores do. If you left, the numbers would not drop. ‘Make the store shine” that could easily be out sourced like it was in Walmart and Best Buy. Fixing promotions could easily be handed off to an offline group.

Please get over your importance. Account managers were valuable years ago when agen company’s were small. Now the majors are huge. 2 Majors have their own internal account managers that do what you do. Average pay for a VZ account manager is $75-90,000 (with some well over 100k). Verizon could easily pay someone $45-50,000 to do the same job.

To the mo--n who posted this:

You couldn’t get hired in Indirect because you never proved oneself as a GM or VBG AE

Dead weight? We drive over 40% of the business in VZ; coach Agent Reps, fix hundreds of promos monthly, make sure of stores shine. 20/30 stores per AM. And yes, we aren’t on commission since One Team / RIF of 2021, but we are still the VZ police department. VZ would lose a million customers a year + without us watching and fixing escalations. So we just hand over 5k stores in America without VZ Corporate supervision? Absolute Clown

VCG AMs taking a page from VBG AMs. But VBG AMs have quotas and sales activities. They are by verticals. There are 1 VBG AM to 3/4 VCG AMs. Someone needs to look at the VEC CEs on the 5G Home teams.

Confirmed indirect getting reduced as much as 50%. Indirect will lose all National. Remaining Account Managers will be assigned stores under set verticals. Zones not complete. Estimated 40 stores per Iam.

I think any impacts will be announced and communicated 2/16. Too early in the month for this week IMO.

I would guy a bunch of the support functions. People who do reporting, project managers, analytics ect. Retail ops has been cut pretty far, so if they close stores then ya otherwise I think they are spared.
