Thread regarding Fiserv Inc. layoffs

RTO?

Why are we calling this RTO? No longer RTO. It is moving out of state. RTO is reasonable and I would have loved to go back to my office in Lake Mary Florida. Unfortunately, the executive team decided to close it. I have no office. We have more than 500 extremely talented folks in the Orlando area. Florida is a very favorable state for doing business, then New Jersey. The executive team decision is very shortsighted, and I hope they will discover this quickly. Hiring talents in Orlando is much easier than asking someone to move to New Jersey.

I will continue to do my job, take care of the customer, earn my paycheck, till the last day I am asked to relocate. I will not uproot my family. There are tons of jobs in my IT field in Florida. My house in Florida costs twice in New Jersey, I have no state income tax here.

I hope the Fiserv committee will realize the damage that has been done and adjust ASAP.

The Pittsburgh office only has about 250 people there from an acquisition. I wonder how much longer that office will be there? There are many smaller pockets of folks all over.

No.

No one should be forced to move. Fiserv associates are people not pawns on a game board.

Why would people leave CA, FL, TX, NY or other diverse states to relocate to NE, which is not very diverse.
DEI is no longer important when theres a 34 million dollar tax incentive from NE. First Data should force OFD peeps to move not OFS folks.
This is why everyone hates FB

Um! There used to be 500 employees in the Orlando area, a lot of those have been let go.

R does not mean return for those remote prior to covid, unless there is a tax incentive.

I’m sure Frank would be the first to say that people in Orlando can commute to Coral Springs. After all it’s only about 3 hours one way. About the time it takes to get to BH from the Melville area.

It was never "RTO". That implies all impacted were in an office prior to Covid. This is FTO. Forced to office. Big difference.

With my manager's approval, I went remote several years ago when I moved with my family to the west coast (nowhere near a Fiserv office) to be closer to extended family. Worked with team members across all 4 US timezones as well as offshore. When the RTO decision came down, it was an easy call: take the layoff package rather than move across the country. There are other tech jobs out there: had 2 fully-remote offers before my last day at Fiserv. Now the Fiserv product about a dozen of us has I think one original dev left at Fiserv supporting it.

I’ve been fully remote 20+ years but was planning on going in to the Lake Mary office if I had to. Now that it’s closed, that’s not an option so I intend to stay remote for as long as that lasts. I refuse to relocate. I don’t trust this company anymore.

I think Beaverton was over 400 employees

Lake Mary was 500 employees? I didn’t think that many were there. Pretty decent sized office to close and relocate. Had to be expensive for the bottom line but obviously cheaper than the rent? Right?

How big was the Beaverton office?

I do know this. This so called leadership does not have anyone's respect, nor do they deserve respect. Your blood is cold. Your heart is dark.
You use people like things, not humans.
Go and do something that makes you feel good about yourself. You still su-k.

I'm sorry but your job will be outsourced offshore. Maybe even you will be training your replacement that will do you work for half the price.

Agree. I would love to go back to the Lake Mary office. I will not relocate to New Jersey, Georgia or Nebraska

Isn't it ironic that Frank uses what the customer wants as an excuse for RTO? Customers also want to have their products supported by competent staff, but most of them have been laid off.

What's hilarious is people who were hybrid/remote prior to covid are now forced to RTO for no reason other than the need for FB to maximize the tax savings to boost stock price. They can claim the customers want us in the office all they want, but we all know that is a load of bullsh-t. The customer only wants someone knowledgeable to help them resolve an issue, but FB and his yes-men lackies are running off everyone that has any expertise. It would be sad if it wasn't so hilariously short-sighted and foolish.
