You guys should head over to the Tmo board and read some of the threads over there. They had a massive layoff across frontline stores and indirect support on Friday, and things sound just as toxic there as it is in our stores.
We have terrible leaders with no vision, but the industry as a whole is in trouble.
@6vfd+1kJKMZQp no. Why would they be laying off sales and ops people for a data breach. This is a combo of getting rid of people after the sprint merger (they promised they wouldn't but who believes a CEO ) and the business conditions.
Wireless is a utility now. The faster people understand that the sooner they can understand what's happening to their jobs.
I'm wondering if the big shake up at TMO has more to do with the data breach.
Customer acquisitions for retail will look like prepaid does today - regardless of carrier. People will be on line and via indirect or, heck, a vending machine where you can hand over your old phone and get a new one and not speak to anyone. Anyone who believes retail will survive in its current state isn't being honest with themselves.
They are adjusting to the market with actual strategy, not giving their teams 10 metrics to follow. I'm sure they do have metrics but apparently selling more credit cards is going to save the company.
TMO at least has a retail strategy. They are cutting dealer stores and moving more and more corporate. We are going the other way with sh-t dealers like Victra. Tough moves for TMO employees, but I applaud their strategy and boldness.
I think most of the people paying attention know about the tmobile layoffs. Doesn't bode well for vz though. They are always followers.
