Nike new hiring spree in Technology

What are your opinions on the new hires happening in Technology, especially engineering, product management, design etc? There are both individual contributor and leadership roles (director and above). Seeing a lot of job postings for global technology, demand, data science, optimization etc. Are these jobs even real? And, if yes, for how long? This are mainly FTE, not ETW?

@6osw, I am in tech as a Director and I could not have agreed more with you on this. It is an awful org full of too many bad people who truly do not know what they are doing. I have never in my entire career seen so many rude people in one place except at Nike tech. All they do all day long is talk sh– about other people. They have no clue about the work and they lack empathy and basic human decency. I wake every morning absolutely dreading the work day because of these people though I have to put on my game face and take care of my team because they are amazing. They are tired, stressed out, and afraid. It hurts me deeply that I cannot give them any assurances because I will not give something I know I do not have. Many of my colleagues (Directors) are bad people but Sr. Directors are even worse.

If you don't want your Nike career to end, don't go to Tech...awful org! Some of the bad apples have been let go but there are still a lot of them there.

A lot of the Sr. Directors don't know their as*es from their elbows.

Technology is so weird. In 2017, I had friends who were let go, but then received ETW offers from recruiters for the exact same roles.

@yov+16TqFkrR yes, you are right. They're stocking up on the "right" kinda people. Sad that for such a big organization, they seem to be tone deaf for the concerns so many employee has. On the other hand, grass always seems greener on the other side. I guess most organization have some good and some not-so-good things about them. Hope there are no more layoffs.

Doesn't sound out of the ordinary. They're building a new organization, so that means some people will have to go and they'll have to hire people that fit what the new org needs. It's not like Nike is broke or something and can't afford to hire people.
