Thread regarding Ally Financial Inc. layoffs

I’ve been on the lookout for other opportunities

But the situation is pretty dire. I don’t enjoy my job at Ally, but I suppose I’ll need to shift my focus toward holding on to it, at least if there’s any way I can influence that outcome. If you have any positive experience or advice about the job search, I’d really appreciate it if you’re comfortable sharing.

@603 - Maybe, then, getting laid off from Ally is a badge of honor! If it's commonly known to be a mess, it could work in your favor when looking for another job.

In my experience, Ally has been a dark spot on my resume. The industry is aware of the disaster and mess within the walls and anyone coming from Ally is instantly seen as incompetent with not much to offer. After so many years I went back to my previous job. The first three weeks were filled with conversation with coworkers asking how I survived the mess at Ally.

I’m not sure what department or city you’re in, but I can say from experience that the job market is absolutely trash at the moment. I’m sure there are plenty of people laid off back in January who are still looking.

If you're looking for something new, find a way to meet people in person. Put a face to the name, and all of that. Show them that you're real and not some AI creation.

If you're staying..... Idk. Pick a deity, force of nature, or cosmological force and pray.
