Thread regarding Verizon Wireless layoffs

Kudos

Just want to give a shoutout to the rep in San Antonio who really painted an accurate picture of the micromanaging culture of what Verizon has become on her exit. She had the insight to “bcc” her email to her Retail Manager to several people in the district of her reasons for quitting this once sought after company. I tell you this, although she eloquently describes the company and its recent shifts into this micromanagement culture where employees lives frankly don’t matter I’m quite certain nothing will be done. The Retail Manager at this multi-store location (don’t get me started on the petty $5K the company pays multi-store managers for double the work and bs) is just following the lead of his leader who is known for his lack of compassion and humanity. Sure the company sends out their quarterly “Pulse Surveys” to “get employee feedback” but these surveys truly fail to give the actual insight leadership needs to hear. I bet you, you won’t catch the Pulse Survey asking about compensation for damn sure! The employees continue to gripe about their pay since moving to “One Team” to their DM…what’s his response? “Verizon might not be for you anymore” or “This is the job you signed up for”. Is he correct? Yes, however these are responses you simply do not tell your employees and expect them to work for you. This is just a little example of his approach to the business, but then again it’s probably coming from his his Director…”speed of the leader, speed of the team”

@5tow, the union has no leverage... well, obviously.

So you want to maximize the damage when you start abandoning our benefits like you did in CA? No thanks... we're more intelligent than that.
We get the same service from Verizon. For free. And they're not pretending to to protect us.

No surprise when less than 1 half of one percent of stores are unionized. They have no leverage. Unionize all of them and you'll see results. That why they freak out so much. 1 store of a dozen people has no strength, but they are terrified of all of them being union because that's the majority of sales.

For the record assistant managers commission check is about 200 - 300 more than reps. Not that big of a difference.

As a rep from a unionized store... RUN!! DON'T DO IT!!! Nothing has changed for the better. Not pay, not staffing, not work life balance. Everything is just as cr---y as it was pre-union. We're just paying for it now.
These worms will promise you anything and everything to get you to join. It's all empty wind. Once they start getting your money they forget about you.

Another corporate shill on here against union reps 🙄. Talk to union reps and see how much happier they are...you are obviously not a store rep because we are all sick of the low pay and bullsh-t of working hard for no reward. Another upper leader overpaid to go on here and stop other stores from following the stores that were sick of the bullsh-t and chose to do something about it.

Ahh. Another CWA hack on the thread. They lie lie lie. Brooklyn, same sales comp. Washington same sales comp. They joined this year and got nothing for inflation. Sheesh. It's embarrassing how ridiculous you sound.

My God who ever wrote about the corporate visitors and the dog and pony show is absolutely correct! "Let us fix it" We understand" "we are working on it"...bullsh-t! They got an ear full before we went through with unionizing. They know what is going on and they are on hefty 6 figure salary telling us they can fix everything but beat around the bush about the low pay and offering potential individual kickers in the future... anything they can do to try and stop you from sticking up for yourself. It's terrible that they can sit back and watch us try hard for them but suffer living paycheck to paycheck. We were told the other carriers are paid in the same commission structure as us and worse but that was a lie. Att and tmobile reps still make commission checks of 2500 to 4k monthly before tax. It's sick how bad the leadership has failed us as we bust our a-s for this company to sp-t in our faces! There are too many overpaid people that do nothing and contribute nothing more than Skype meetings and too many underpaid sales people actually making the company money! What's funny is now that it's the holidays our gm and asms are upset with their lower commission cuts from us. We are well above 100 percent and our Christmas commission check from November is gonna come out in the mid 500 to low 600s after tax...merry fu----g Christmas! Sad part is the mangers are getting a bigger cut than the reps of it but still not enough for them and they are begging us to sell harder saying we can all max it out for "more money". This company is becoming a joke and is going to eventually either fully unionize or lose all credible sales reps and lose all its business to the competition like it is already. The network is becoming very spotty and the customer service is pi----g off our customers. The people over seas just send them in for things we can't do in the store. Tbh the only thing we can do to fight back is join CWA cause verizon is terrified of them. We are literally becoming the next failure om Hans' record and sad part is once he tanks us like he did Sony, he will be rewarded with millions and Verizon will fu---d beyond repair. It's sad cause this was once a wonderful company with opportunity and a good pay structure, a place where great sales achievements were rewarded and incentivised. Verizon loves using covid and inflation as an excuse to justify paying us so little. Luckily our store has a union to go to bat for us and atleast fight to get us a decent bump to atleast match inflation.

Their members paid for this? Sounds pretty sketchy to me

Revolution…How about Union. God forbid employees actually look into this, all he-l breaks loose as company leadership start doing their fire drills trying to find the source. It’s quite comical how much time the company spends talking to their store managers about how to combat union talks amongst staff but hardly spends anytime talking about how the pay plain out sucks and ways to fix this major issue. It’s like all they do is just shrug their shoulders. Then when the “dog and pony” show rolls through (corporate visitors) and they ask that lame “what do you need from me” question…don’t you dare bring up how the pay sucks compared to before. Word of advice … CWA!

I always love the kicker it's like bust your bu-t the whole entire month for what like 130 bucks after taxes. How about just take a short lunch like 6 days out of the month and there's your kicker. Just another sample of the mo--nic bonehead ideas from higher ups

We need a revolution!! We need to start standing up to the DM and above and just say “NO”

Got to love the $200 “kicker” for being a Top Performer (insert sarcasm). Nowadays it just isn’t worth it to work in a Verizon retail store

Working in Customer Service, I literally have at least one conversation weekly with reps who are breaking down over pay. Property tax, groceries, electric bills, gas and everything else increased dramatically. Even Verizon immediately increased prices once inflation hit. The only thing is that Verizon did that sooo quickly, but didn't do anything about their own employee wages. Enjoy your 25% STI and 1% base pay increase in February. Sc--w Hans and the Board.

I feel this, I quit a couple of years back, last store I parted the company from was in San Antonio, I decided in my exit to leave a google review on that store about how things are REALLY run to the customers. (Feel free to check a certain stores reviews out). This was once a great company but the DM at the time pulled me into the office and demanded my resignation or to “embrace 2.0 and accept slashed compensation) luckily I’m doing much better now. Never let someone tell you that you’re not worth it….ever
