Tech stocks are making new highs every day. Why is HPE doing layoffs and cutting pay ? It should be hiring and give out bonuses. :)
There are layoffs. I expect them to take place this month. But for sure it’s happening.

Both Carly and Mark Hurd used salary reductions successfully to get people to leave without additional compensation.
When MH did that the economy was lousy. I don't remember knowing anyone who quit in Fort Collins at the time, though many got the ax. If you were laid off in Fort Collins then, your only choice was to commute to Denver.
The lay offs were brutal. Empty cubicle aisles suddenly appeared left and right. You could also tell by the parking lots, which were also less populated. Today the Fort Collins site is a ghost of its former self, while Greeley is long gone and Loveland is mostly empty with a small Keysight presence. I also remember coming back from Christmas break in January 2009, only to find out that dozens of colleagues were laid off over the break. MH was the anti HP Way.
Finding an engineering job will be really hard but I do believe that the $600 enhances UI and state UI will be extended for years. Work can be done from anywhere domestic and international. You got tens of thousands of top engineers from startups, Uber, Lyft and many others out of a job too. We created a huge mess. HPE is a prime example of buying its own stock rather than investing in R&D as well as saving for a rainy day.
And the beauty of this method is that it puts maximum pressure on ICs. Lets be clear that Director and above level are on the executive pay curve. Salary is part of their compensation but so are RSU (restricted stock), bonus and even some stock options. When I left HPE last year, my salary was less than 1/3rd of my total compensation.

This is an effort to get you to leave on your own so they don't have to deal with the cost of severance. If you stop and remember, (or ask those of is that were here), we went through this with Hurd (or was it Carly?) back in the day. And for those who look up to this, consider this. Now people can't pay their bills because of the reduction and won't qualify for leniency from any lender because you're still employed. So now YOU'RE forced to scramble and get another job with no severance. HP wins in that they got rid of you, didn't have to report that they laid off as many and it cost them nothing. Yes, I realize that if you handled your finances correctly then this wouldn't be an issue. Fact is though that's how it is for most.
Layoffs at Aruba started yesterday. Will continue till end of this month.
If you stay at HPE, you need to work with one eye looking for your Director or HR rep coming down the hall to "visit" with you. Be proactive and manage your career. Leave now and you will never regret it. My two happiest days at HPE were the day I joined and the day I left.
Mid January layoff at Aruba was both wired and wireless
Wireless division of HPE conducted a lay-off in Jan this year. Many of my coworkers were affected and a large number left during December- January. Looks like they are getting ready for another round of layoffs.
I hear that layoffs in the US are pushed back to 6/15. Two more additional weeks to start applying and talking to contacts. Frankly, Antonio's latest feel good memo to the company is just extra motivation. So done.
Advice: Get your resume out, find another job or career, and move on.
I quit HP years ago when I saw the writing on the wall, and I never looked back....It was was the best decision I ever made !

Jesus Christ! It is the tech industry! Used to be every 3 months there would be talk of a layoff. Now it is every week. Why worry about something you cannot control? WHO FREAKING CARES about layoffs. Worry about what you can control. For instance, you work ethic and keeping your resume updated. It is really not that hard.

The CEO literally said they stopped them. If by "a while", you mean either the end of this fiscal year or next fiscal year, I agree.
