Do you Charlotte employees RTO 3 days a week? I went back to the office in March ‘22 3 days a week. Charlotte based. Looking to leave the dumpster fire that is WF. Hoping Truist is a little better??? Hearing mixed things. Thanks

"Can Truist be a chaotic and challenging organization to work for? Absolutely, but so is any other bank or Fortune 500 for that matter"
You are absolutely wrong ! I have worked at numerous banks (both big and community) during my long banking career and NOTHING I have remotely compares to the chaos and challenges that is currently Truist (and I worked at BBT for over 20 years) I left Truist (not RIF'd but saw the writing on the wall) about year ago and couldn't be happier at my current bank. Is it perfect? of course not but I surely don't complain. I am an adult and understand that nothing is ever perfect (and love my job). The difference is now I work at a bank with competent leadership, where the right people are in the right roles for the right reasons, where they actually DO listen to and care about employee input vs lip service (or worse at Truist - honest feedback gets you on the RIF list). If you truly believe that all Banks and Fortune 500 companies are run like Truist you are sadly misinformed.
Also the people complaining on this site would presumably complain at any company or bank they work for. Can Truist be a chaotic and challenging organization to work for? Absolutely, but so is any other bank or Fortune 500 for that matter. The good thing about Truist is it has that “politeness” and “nice to your face” attitude as a result of being located in the southeast United States. Other banks such as Wells have more of a “New York banking culture” which a lot of people hate (including myself)
You want to leave the dumpster fire that is Wells for Truist?
Have you ever heard the phrase “jump from the frying pan into the fire?”
That’s what you would be doing.
Left Truist last year for Wells. Wells is a mess in a lot of ways, but a bit better than Truist. Came here for more senior role, so I got about 10 percent more. Benefits aren’t any good and there is no pension, but managed to get some RSRs this bonus period. But Wells is laying off 25,000 this year or thereabouts, so I may have made a mistake. We shall see. Close to retirement, so would not be the end of the world.
Not sure if OP ever intends to check this thread again, but I wanted to throw in what I've heard. I know a couple of people in the data and analytics space who came from Wells, and they've been very candid about how coming here was a net negative to their career development, even with an increase in pay. As others have said, your mileage may vary depending on the part of the bank that you work in and the leadership that you report to.
As with any company it depends which department you'll be going to, I've had a long career in finance and have had time at Wells and Bank of America in Charlotte. In each case there were pros and cons, I can tell you that Truist is better than where I was at Wells but worse than BAC.
As with any move you'll need to consider many things, RTO being a serious piece. I know Wells also intends to increase required number of days in the office (likely to drive attrition which Charlie desperately needs). Frankly salary and bonus are similar between the two, Truist 401k match is now 4% but matches every pay period whereas Wells marches once a year @6%, Truist also has a pension that does close some of that gap (not quite fully for new hires).
Depending on your role, I can tell you that technology at Truist is not great. Wells is just outdated, but Truist is disjointed and outdated in some LOBs, this is typical with newly merged smaller banks.
The leadership isn't great either but seeing as most banks now follow the same playbook it won't be much different than Wells. Your direct manager and 2-up will have a bigger impact on your day to day which is the same anywhere.
Good luck to you
IDK….trust your gut…. WF stinks. Likely depends where you are going and who you will be working with.
For Real??????? You better do a little more research
"Looking to leave the dumpster fire that is WF. Hoping Truist is a little better?"
BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!
(takes deep breath)
BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAH!!!!!
There is nothing “mixed” about the work environment at Truist. It is like anything I have ever witnessed - it is a train wreck. Came here from BoA, worst professional mistake I’ve ever made.
I'm in ML Servicing located in Greenville. It's only a matter of time before we're back in the office five days a week not to mention we're all ecpecting another RIF next week. I can promise you Truist is NO better than WF. Complete crapshow under the current leadership (VP and Sr. VP's). Both of mine are two of the worst Managers that I've ever had....
OP here,
Thanks for the warnings. I will keep looking. Good luck to you all!
Don't do it.
In the immortal words of Sheriff Buford T Justice...
"You can think about it, but don't do it."
Unless you're getting a huge pay increase... DON'T. It's no better here (maybe worse - and I was at WF).
Jump out of the frying pan into the fire lol come on over to the sh-t show lol
Sure, come on over, SunTruist has the vacancy sign on and we prefer WF “Teammates” and encourage them to join this well oiled machine.
Winter is coming EVERYWHERE in the world.
This is the most toxic environment you can imagine. RTO 3 days with plans to move to 5. Bonus cut. 401k cut. Health benefits cut. Merit increases below average.
Save yourself the headache.
Frying pan, meet fire.
Just saying 'manager' gives us nothing to work with
