Thread regarding General Motors layoffs

Traitor Mary!

It's very clear that Sr. leadership roles are mostly in Cali now for S&S. They will control the show now bringing in their own cronies and expanding their own empire over there while chopping heads of Michigan workers.

Thank you Mary for not having a right vision when you had plenty of time and now relying on these guys to come save the day, which time will tell but judging by what happened to Ford, it doesn't look good. And, as always we all know who will pay the price at the end. The innocent folks who were just following the orders.

The last person I knew who talked about layoffs as chopping heads was from Andhra Pradesh.

Surprised that this ugly grandma is still running the show. She is just like others when it comes to lay offs.

@vk What leadership has Apple shown in AI. Apple with billions of dollars for R&D has done nothing and is on the verge of just licensing technology from Google. Give me a break... over-rated marketing company .... BTW... I use Samsung phone. Those who know... know.

@vk I read the ford forums a lot and I think the name abbreviations is because it flags the mods to delete your comment faster. At least that’s what people usually say.

@ab oops, I'm in Atlanta and I care. I understand the argument for MI. 1st of all Michigan has a ton of excellent swe and tech talent. 2nd, I personally would have liked to see GM lead in the S and S space and choose a place like Austin or Atlanta to be build its leadership team. There are more benefits economically and GA is one of the most popular places for tech companies, even from Cali,to build there computing infrastructure. And we will need it to be competitive in AI and ML. The sole reason they didn't do that is obvious now. We've been trying for 15 years to pivot to software and we needed leadership from companies like Apple. It's easier to recruit the software leadership team we have now if you can promise David Richardson and crew that they won't need uproot their families and relocate cross country. Don't really feel the need to be anonymous but whatever.

FWIW, I'm in engineering (electrical) and get contacted by Californian companies all of the time on linkedin. It goes to show how some areas are rich in certain kinds of talent and poor with others.

They hire in California, but California hires from Michigan. LOL

I dont understand this. The company wants to pivot to SW. Michigan does not have talent in tech, so why wont they not hire from CA? Are you doing anything to brush up your skills?
PS - before firing back, I am also a non tech employee in MI

Everyone knows that Michigan managers are highly qualified individuals that make the best choices.

Yeah, I'm not sure why it matters to you that S&S leaders are in California. Many S&S employees aren't in Michigan either. They are in Austin and Atlanta as well. No one in Atlanta or Austin cares if the executives are in Michigan or not.

Managers and executives always build their empires.

Does it matter what state they're in?

It just matters whether they like you or not. That determines your stack ranking and your fate.

"I was only following orders" has never been a good excuse for doing something you knew was wrong.
