It's a joke around here. Favoritism run amuck, blatantly obvious with no attempt to hide it. As a carry over from IBM. I can tell you. It was just as prevalent with IBM. The big difference, was IBM had a culture of hiding it better. Kyndryl not so much. They succeeded in fostering a work environment of fear and uncertainty. Put your head down shut your mouth. Just row the boat or we will throw you overboard.

Apparently, a general corporate cost-cutting story to boost the stock. Heard lots of RA's in Cloud - mostly U.S.

I heard RAs happened last week as well as benching. I left last year when the benching and RA grumbles started. I decided it was sounding too much like that toxic IBM culture where everyone starts nail bitting around January hoping they aren't on the February cut list. Well it seems the only difference for Kyndryl is the list comes out in June.

I have witnessed persons benched just leave. I could not speak to the numbers of persons leaving. I know it's not unheard of. It is just the way it is now days.

It is simple, the benched person gets frustrated and leaves. It becomes painfully obvious to anyone who is placed in this situation. It disrupts your normalcy, it makes your employment uncertain. The other big problem, you feel like, you no longer are part of a team. Large majority just leave for a different employer. If your forced to look for work internally mind as well look for greener pastures externally.

@4tlt+1t1juIJk - I do not understand how bench makes you leave without a severance. Could you please comment on this more in detail? Thanks.

I watched a few be put on the bench. This is my own pet peeve. The bench is a horrible place for a genuine hard working employee. No matter your age, or service time given. What really irks me. Is these a-s kiss guys.that run out of a-s to kiss. End up being benched because su-king up is not a real skill. They usually go into panic mode. Then they start sniffing around every door crack, and a-s crack they can find. The icing on the cake is they are loud and vocal about how they kept that person over me. Man up get a new job you pompous blowhards.

Benching is just a way for them to starve you out. Saves them severance, and unemployment costs. Best part is this will enable them to get employees off the roles, without any scrutiny.

This pod transition is even more laughable. For example naming of positions in comparison to responsibilities. A lot of people who only job is to check Ansible jobs log in Ansible tower and report errors to sysadmin teams are called DevOps. DevOps it's really a very advanced technically role, not a barely technical person opening tickets for other teams to solve based on reports. Same with people working in Cybersecurity team when they only open incidents based on security checks and have no technical background. SRE position is often occupied by former incident managers and all these people do is pushing admins (technical people) to work on projects they themselves do not understand. They ask other teams for information and copy paste questions and answers between different technical teams without understanding of what they are asking for. I don't understand where is this company heading.

Was just 'benched' after talking to my manager that I need a pay raise as I have worked for close to 4 years and with inflation have received a pay cut since I started. That was after they told me that they were looking to promote me >_>
Here is to hoping that I can land the same job in the workday job portal for 4x the salary....asking for 2 years of experience.
This place is a joke.

Well next week probably no layoffs, per se ... but the "benching" will likely continue.
