Getting mixed messages from my leader in audit about RTO 4 days. She told a entire group not to worry about it and without saying the exact words that if she didn't care you didn't need to. My risk partners seem to swing the other way when I asked around and say they will be tracked and already told by their management to get on board. So what is it? Is it up to your manager and leader how hard they enforce? Guess pick your manager carefully. I would have thought being audit we would have drawn the hard line to policy.

Sounds like someone has pa-ties in hunch because they realize their precious remote status is under threat, what a clown let the people vent and enjoy what you’ve got while it lasts
Yes, how else would they decide who is remote and who isn’t than based on distance from office?
@4mow+1skxrdnZ
So if the rules are you can be remote if you live X miles away from an office, then if I move can I become remote?
Also that seems a really odd rule as that just feels very unfair.
Managers do have discretion. If your manager told their manager my team
isn’t doing this as it makes no sense for them. It takes courage.
My manager changed me to remote when they announced the 4 day. He said HR may come back and enforce the hybrid if you live x miles from office, but until it was announced he didn’t see a problem with changing mine. I made sure my pay would not be impacted either.
It’s not manager discretion. I’m being told everyone has to be hybrid or in the office unless they have a medical accommodation from HR or are too far from a Truist office. I can’t just choose to set someone to remote.
Don’t think that will work because managers are the ones who change the work status to remote in workday which is driving all the reporting. What’s to stop them from moving all of us to remote if it’s at their discretion?
What I see happening is that there will be disciplinary action or no bonuses for managers that don’t hold their teams accountable to adhering to the policy. Which as a manager will really su-k. I don’t care if my team adheres to the policy but if I’m going to pay the price I guess I’ll have to.
Those of you worried about “telecommuters” instead of yourself, here is some news for you. You will not amount to anything in your life. You are nothing more than a pathetic busy body.
pay grades 110 and above
I keep reading people mention bonuses here. Who the flip gets bonuses?
Do you think your cowardly manager is going to have the internal toughness to give a well performing employee a bad review for not making it in 3 days when they themselves don’t go in? If they do-just be sure to make them feel extremely uncomfortable about it (with kindness of course)
I’m just not going to go in.
We are all going to be laid off eventually, so at least I can continue to have a good work / life balance while I have job.
What area is that where putting RTO was allowed in performance goals? Our area tried to do it and was told no by HR
Some teams are being required to put the current 3/5 requirement in their annual, personal performance goals. So, the bank is setting us up to not pay bonuses based on RTO.
When they require documented and HR approved “business cases” for the 1000s of people within 30-50 miles of an office that are on telecommute, then I will worry and monitor my team days in. Until then, I’m not more than 1-2 days and am laying no hammer on my folks. Either implement consistently or the discipline threat has no teeth.
Audit certainly is down playing RTO. Among many groups who have bled employees they cannot afford to lose anymore. On that subject the bank continues to lose long term producers who have brought many customer dollars in loans and deposits to the bank. Each that leaves ends up with a lot of those customers following them. This will continue as we are more interested in being an investment bank and continue to put obstacles in the way of growing the community bank business.
I'm not sure if they've planned to have enough office space to accompany 4 day RTO. Plus the parking discount is for 12 days (3 days a week) just for Truist employees. When that parking policy changes maybe they are closer to a serious 4 day RTO enforcement. The bank is only trying to keep up with the big banks RTO policies.
If enough people do not comply, your cowardly manager won’t do anything. Did they even meet with you to explain the 4 days? No-because they are cowards.
All managers recieved an email on 4/17 with clear information and what next steps are. Managers will be expected to monitor and address non-compliance. All assignments have not been completed. This is a work in progress and more information will come out before October. Be ready to be in a seat 4 days a week in a Truist facility. This is what my manager explained to me and I relayed to my direct reports.
RTO will not be consistent throughout the Company. I can quarantine that. The team members in lower pay grades will be beat down about RTO while the team members in higher pay grades will do as they wish regardless of the RTO mandate.
Ally Bank tried to roll out four days and a the employees did not abide. Stay strong, safety in numbers.
I’m a manager and I’ve been told nothing. I have asked questions of my leadership and no response. It’s really frustrating not knowing what to tell my team.
I sit alone and truly makes me be at my worst-a significant negative impact on my work-which pi---s me off because I like to grind. I go in often, but not in full compliance, nor do I intend to. They can fire me if they wish. if we all do this they can’t do a thing. Keep that in mind. These leaders don’t respect you and never will. There is no prize for following blindly.
Sounds like we got a few managers here.
have you all heard anything about how it will work in reality.
My manager seems to have no clue how it will work and what type of leeway he will have.
If it’s truly up to the manager to enforce I’ll tell my team to not worry about it either. I’m worried as a manager they will find a way to hold me accountable and if my team doesn’t make their numbers I’m going to be penalized for it.
We are all risk managers.
Why would your risk partners have any say in you coming into the office? Listen to your manager. I told my team not to worry about it, too.
