Thread regarding JPMorgan Chase & Co. layoffs

The bottom line is to make the manager look good

I am leaving after many years spent here and I am looking forward to my last day. If I could give advice to those who are staying and trying to keep their jobs, I think the most important thing is to make your manager look good. In short, this would mean that you never show that you are too competent or ambitious to get ahead through hard work! (Of course, not all managers here are the same, but most of them are walking inflated egos.)

I work in mortgage and it's a sh*t show. You are so right about: 'tries to stuff it’s social and political ideology down the workers throat.' This is what I truly HATE about JPMC!! I am here to do a job and not listen to managers whine in these diversity calls. And employee agree as if they are being mistreated in the office. You would be fired in a heartbeat if you did that people like that.
I am so happy for you moving on. I am in the process of doing what you did. I am almost done paying off all my bills. My house is almost paid off. I will move somewhere and get a job that is mindless, just get a check, come home and enjoy my life not chained to JPMC and their ideology. I am spittle the Kool-Aide out after taking sips when the managers are not looking.

I left a few months ago having worked several years. It’s a soulless corporation like most others that tries to stuff it’s social and political ideology down the workers throat. Covid was an eye opener for me. It made me re-assess what was important to me and what I actually need to live a good life. I spent a few years quiet quitting while paying off debt by living below my means. Sold my expensive car when the used car prices were hot and bought a new economy car that will last for the next 10 years or so. Looked where I wanted to actually retire someday. I also looked at jobs in the same line of work but decided although the money is good the stress wasn’t worth it. Searched jobs one wrung down which meant less stress and something I could do because I’d eliminated most of my debt. Sold my house and bought a fixer upper in my destination area. It was livable and much smaller and by living below my means I was able to pay for it mostly with cash. I went there a few times this past year to do small fixer upper work on it for my vacation time. Is it a dream home? No but when I retire I won’t have to downsize. It meets my needs now and what I’ll need in the future. A few months ago I landed a remote job and turned in my resignation to JPMC. I moved and although I make less money my life is better. I’m on track to have my home paid off in 2023. My point is this, stop drinking the JPMC Koolaid and put yourself and your loved one first. Don’t drink the society’s Koolaid either. Stop worrying about living up to its standards (gotta build equity so I can buy a nicer house, gotta have the latest and greatest cell phone, latest clothing brand names and brand name foods, be on trend). Instead figure out what you need and want long term. Then start looking for ways to get it without becoming a slave to the jpmc’s of the world. The time you give them you will never get back so give them as little as possible to accomplish your goal. I wish I had figured things out like this when I was in my 30’s so I could have started enjoying life sooner. Am I worried I don’t have all the fixer upper skills to do the work on my home? Nope. YouTube helped me learn a lot for my first 2 small projects. Painted my first house this past year and learned how to patch some drywall inside. I live 15 minutes from the beach and after I pay off the small loan on it I’ll live mortgage free the rest of my life probably with friends coming to visit when they vacation. Find out where you want to live and make it happen. If you are willing to think for yourself and of your loved ones now and make a plan and execute on it then you’ll be able to enjoy life with more freedom then you have right now.

You are absolutely right! They can care less about who you are or anything personal about you just as long as you hit them numbers. They won’t even help in anyway just as long as their numbers are high! and look good socially PATHETIC

What? I thought this is common sense. There are still people actually going above and beyond after so many things going on and think climbing the corporate ladder is the only way of life ?
