Thread regarding Humana Inc. layoffs

Here we go again!

This company has practically ruined Oct/Nov for me. Layoffs again this year in late October. I’m hearing Marketing, HR and Medicare Operations will be hit the worst. Anyone hearing anything different?

@6jju+1oQ8S4ZC I was told she was reported a few years ago and I KNOW she was reported earlier this year ( I was there when someone called HR4U). Nothing happens. She says whatever she wants despite making people on calls with her uncomfortable. AND, she has “people of color” who report to her. HR doesn’t seem to care. Or, she’s been counseled but doesn’t change. Not sure why?

@4bmh+1oQ8S4ZC- this is extremely concerning! Has the racist AVP been reported to ethics line, HR and the diversity office? Has anyone threatened to go to the EEOC? Everyone in the department that has witnessed this behavior needs to blow up HR and the ethics line until they are ousted. No place for racism in the workplace!

I read BB's comment on Linked-In concerning curiosity. He needs to do a deeper dive into Humana. Curiosity is what ki-ls the Humana cat. Ask too much, see too much make suggestions and your name will be at the top of the RIF list.

I wonder if he writes this stuff himself or is it some lackey paid to push out all the BS.

Look at the states where they are looking to hire, these are different states than they have usually focused on, and they’re going for Medicaid contracts…look at the jobs posted and you can see the direction they are going in. HAH CMs are going to be massively hit.

With the closure of commercial plans, that will also tighten up the medicare and medicaid contracts. Since COVID they had this in plan to outsource most positions. It has been long enough since Covid, they wont look as bad in the public eye to throw a 2k or 3k or more lay off plan. lets see how it plays out.

Humana is the worst company to work for. I left last year after trying to get a RIF and trying to get fired. But, that would require management to actually do their job, or even know what their department job consists of and even understand how HR works or build a case. No, instead they just bully you to the point you quit. All the while giving awards and raises to the welfare to work coworkers who are running side hustles during company time, selling food out of their home, vacationing but claiming their kids are sick (that they do not even have custody of) or lying about some emergency which is humana worker code for a court date due to being arrested. etc. ESPECIALLY in Louisville.

I'm so done worrying about a rif that now I keep my fingers crossed they will rif me so I will be done. Worst company for job security ever. I will be done with nursing for good if it happens. Good luck to all.

Over the past few years there were comments about a racist AVP in marketing that people hoped would get RIF’d. I believe it was a female. Anyway, as a frequent fall visitor to this site, did she ever get let go? No one ever seems to follow up after the RIFs are done. Just curious.

Every year, good people get laid off or “early retired”. I know at least five upper leaders that were RIFed but the story out there was they were retiring. Such a lie! Maybe it’s time the C suite is “retired “ with the standard cr-p package they give us peons!

You couldn't give me Care Plus coverage for free. Terrible leadership, it's a long running joke that MR fires all of her managers and directors at regular intervals, or at least before Humana leadership realize she is the problem.

Look at the job postings for the past week…. Many related to Medicaid and Careplus marketing. I think the CMs that are telephonic that are not with SNP or the Care Plus. On SNP team are going to be the ones that take the hit, unless they get transferred to programs that are revenue generating and have licenses for this states.

Haven't heard any layoff info I think clinical will be safe as in RNs and member facing roles as 1st quarter 2024 will be busy with new enrollment we will need to wait and see otherwise

Open enrollment is not over when they usually announce the playoffs for fourth quarter. For the last six or seven years the last week in October on that Thursday they announce layoffs. I agree with the original poster is getting so old. My family has a running joke. Merry Humana layoff season will begin soon.

Corporate America is like a honey beehive, when they no longer need you, they carry you to the edge and drop you. Do not ever drink the kool aid that those on the board and sitting in the C Suite care about you. You are just a worker bee making them all very wealthy until they no longer need your services.

Interesting how the CEO and top executives continue to make millions or hundred thousandths, despite not being the ones, working with members and bringing in the money for the company. If they keep this up, it will continue to drop the reputation of humana as an hmo for medicare and medicaid.
