60 YO, laid off cell tech with 30 years in my market.
Great call out. You do not work in tech or have a clue what goes on at a real tech company because you work retail at Verizon.
@3xcr+1dxpoVeP yes
You’re not part of a fast tech company. You’re a sales clerk in a dying retail location. Tech has nothing to do with you selling a phone to someone who already knows what they want.
Is severance still 2 weeks / year up to 35 max?
Ain't age, it is what they know. Face it we r fast tech company. If you don't keep up you get run over. We got an old dude in our store who doesn't even know what TikTok is and can't help no one who wants to shoot vid. He refused to use his best device. Im sure if retail has next hit people like him will be the first to go.
They target salaries, performance and areas where consolidation (where one person can do two jobs), not age. It just so happens that the older people are paid more because they've been here longer. Over 40 is a protected class and they have to provide you with the age breakdown. Believe me, the lawyers have already signed off.
@1Yth…Yes, if you are one, get ready.
They age discriminate. They Try to show all the different ages on a lay off list, to cover their as--s, but they definitely don’t want anybody over 45 -50!
I know someone who was 60 - are they targeting older, more highly paid employees?
66 yo, 18 years, GN&T
Our region had one cell tech and one cell manager let go. All I’ve heard so far.
