Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Hans meetings w Outsourcing Companies in Davos WEF in Jan 2023

When Hans went to the World Economic Forum last January in Davos , Switzerland he met with 2 separate outsourcing companies (one from India and I think Accenture or First Source). Hans getting them ready for more business with this latest round of US VZ layoffs. This is not how leaders should lead.

@3uut+1mUejrmR of course they'd renew with Infy. You think Infy would do any kind of KT to another 3rd party company? Vz is stuck with them now. But then again, Vz probably wouldn't care about any KT. They certainly don't care that most of their systems have gone downhill in the last 4.5 years. So there's that.

@3fod

The Infy contract was extended? How long and how much? Infy has done nothing to earn an extension. They should be “RIFd” or replaced.

What percentage of VZ employees (SGs 5-8) are from India? > 50% ? What % of RIFs over the past 5 years were from India? 0%?

@2rec - Contract was already extended. And Infosys was the only taker back in 2018... So it's not an India thing, for all those prejudiced against the 3rd party firm or against foreigners.... remember who made the decisions - the CEO. Buck stops with him - everyone else is towing the line.

Craft in the works to be moved over to a 3rd party vendor which will honor the current contract(s) till they end…writing is on the wall…good luck.

I'm sure they were both from India. I believe the 1 Billion dollar deal/contract Hans made with Infy in 2018/2019 is up at the end of this year. So he'll need to extend/renew it or find another Indian contractor.

Are we "saving money" by outsourcing work/jobs to India? Given VZ's stock plummeted from the 50s (at the start of Hans/India/Infy) to the 30s , I would say not. We are losing money. We are losing customers. We lost the #1 carrier spot.

But, maybe this was Hans/India's plan all along. A passive aggressive attack on the US by taking over a major corporation and destroying it.

Remember how Verizon 2.0 was going to make us more efficient. How did that work out? It's been nothing but chaos ever since.

Craig Silliman is the new VZ hatchet man. Made $8.6m last year.
They will offshore as much as they can.

@itg+1mUejrmR All CAPS - no need to yell. The thread is about layoffs and outsourcing not wherever you’re taking it.

We were told VGS/VSO would create efficiencies yet we’ve yet to see it. Here in the south there is an internal VGS ops team who we see two to three times per year. Then, they have an outsource group who are the ones who actually respond to our work requests. We never see their Director? Not sure if there is one??? Additionally we have our retail operations team. Why do we need all the VGS people when retail operations is in the stores more than two times per year, more visible in the stores all the time, and who can fill out the checklists that the VGS team spends all day completing. Corporate waste. These are the redundancy that needs to be addressed.

VGS is just VSO rebranded. By the very announcement of cost efficiencies, you were being told that any area there would be the focus of streamlining/reductions. That org would feel it more than others, but don't kids yourself, no place is really safe anymore...even C-Suites are being cut...

When he announced the new Global services org last year, outsourcing was my first thought. Came to pass much faster than I anticipated.

Nothing should really be that surprising. Hans outsourced IT at Ericsson, which GTS felt the brunt of that like a sledgehammer after he became CEO here. He had no plans after Ericsson's 4/5G rollout, so they cut ties with him. Why the VZ BOD is putting up with him under the same conditions is beyond confusing?

Hans hates Americans in general and apparently detests whites, blacks, and Latinos and seems to delight in dividing people and pitting them against each other based on race, creed, and color. Hans really is the worst thing that has ever happened to this company.
